That has always been reason #1. If the marital roles are "blurred" by "equality" then the trouble starts.

I work with a guy,he is probably about 45,and he has a daughter by another marriage who is about 20. He did this mail order thing and got a woman from the Phillipines. She is in her early 20's. They are having a baby any day now. He has told people that her place is at home,so he doesn't let her go out of the house,unless he is there,she has to stay home. He doesn't even like her watching tv! He doesn't want her to get a job,even a part time one. From people who have met him,i guess this woman is BEAUTIFUL. This guy is,well,to put it nicely,a little on the creepy side. So everyone at my job feels kinda like,oh that poor woman. But,i don't know what her situation was like before,so,maybe she's happier now. But to me it just seems like you exchange one shitty situation for another. At least she'll have a baby soon,so she'll have SOME sort of life besides keeping house for her husband.

In general though,i still cant see the mail order business as respectable at all. If these women have such a horrible life in their country,how does anyone meet someone and get married and have children there and live there happily? Why do they make it out to be so bad? And as for why there are no mail order grooms,my answer would be because women have more standards. Its the same thing as strip clubs,for example. There is a demand by men out there for half naked women,sex hotlines,and prostitutes. Women just have more morals and respect for love. I'm sure i pissed some people off by saying that but you can't argue with what you see.
