Question How do you permanetly move on from a bad relationship/breakup??

I just recently broke up with a bf i was with for about a year and a half. it ended pretty messy and disappointing. since i have broken up with this person i still went back to go see him cause i felt lonely and had no one else, so i figure, "one more time". well this evening, i really told him i don't wan to see him anymore, ever again. i know this is with my mindset, how can i completely erase this bad person from my memory and just move on and be happy with myself. why would i want to go back to this person, when i know it is a bad situation? i don't want to be one of those girls/women who ends up from one bad thing to the next...i dont want to be a statistic or at least one of those lifetime movie characters...advice?

You don't erase the person or the relationship from your memory, but accept both for all they were and all they were not. Every time you consider going back to him, you remind yourself of all the reasons why you broke up in the first place and then you stop yourself from going.
