I need some advice and I thoguht where better than Steve's site! I was depressed several years back, and it stopped, and started again, than stopped and started again. Which as you can imagine really frustated me, and evenutally when I followed through all the symptons and noticed the yaerly pattern, it was pretty much a diagonsis of SAD, this year I been able to start treatment for it. So its been a bit of a relief to now that it will start getting better from here. Though one question, its mid november and its the first time in years that in november I feel great! Though know I feel as though its a question of where do i start to rebuild my life? As you can imagine several years of SAD has taken its toll on me, but I still want to get through this. Though I don't know where to start rebuilding my life, i really can't remember what I feel passionate about in life, most of my friends, well are nice, but really they've never seen a truely happy me in the past, so I think i will need to start moving away from those kinds of relationships. I really feel lost, and I don't know where to go. Does anyone have any advice? Articles: Seasonal affective disorder - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Seasonal Affective Disorder Association |

I can't say anything like "I know where you are coming from", so maybe I am off base with what I have to say below. I think it sounds like you know what you need to do. You need to find your purpose. I think that even if you don't find your life purpose, you can still find some kind of mini-purpose until you do figure it out. What does make you happy? If you can't think of anything, perhaps exploring different experiences can be your immediate purpose. Does anything scare you, like roller coasters, cooking, or math? Try it, and see if you might actually like it. Maybe it will become your purpose? Or maybe, as I said above, just trying different things and experiencing them first-hand will become your purpose. You might become a journalist, famous for doing all sorts of wacky or foreign things. Do things. Taking action leads to taking action. Take the time to plan to avoid expending too much energy, but make sure you execute the plan. Taking action is motivating in itself. I hope the above helps. |

I belive that everything in America is so megalomaniacly build and that is the reason why people feel so disconnected from each other. Alienation is the right word, i think. I was born and raised in small town in one small Europena country. And I wouldn't change that for anything in the world. My advice to you is go and live in some small town in Colorado or find strong personal relationship. Both would be perfect.
