I just wanted to share a tiny little story of something I witnessed this morning. I was on my way to work and noticed two homeless guys run into the street. I thought, "Oh no! Someone is going to run them over! What are they doing?!" Then a few seconds later, I saw them behind the car of a lady and her daughter which had broken down in the middle of morning rush hour traffic (and school just started so it's a madhouse), pushing with all their might to get it off the road and all the way into a parking lot. I literally started to tear up. These guys who have nothing, who most people pass with a look of disdain and contempt, jumped in while all the commuters in their fancy cars just honked and swerved. It reminded me why I am proud to be a member of the human race. It reminded me what true worth and wealth is. It brightened my morning and hoped it would do the same for someone else. I'm welling up again...carry on... |

Very touching story. Thank you for sharing it. It is always great to know that true human spirit is alive around us. I don't want to hijack the thread, but I also witnessed a small but touching event on my way to work today. As I was going around a turn on a local road, another car ahead of me came into view. But then I saw a squirrel run right in front of it, and leap into the air intersecting with the car's bumper. The next second I'm passing a dead squirrel on the side of the road, lying on its back and with shriveled up front paws. It all happened so fast -- seeing the car ahead of me, seeing a leaping squirrel full of life, and then staring death right in the eyes one second later. At first I was angry to have witnessed death, and at the squirrel's stupidity for getting itself killed. But then I realized that moments like this teach us the true value of life, and how fortunate we are to be in this world to have an opportunity to use our power of creation to bring positive influence to everything around us. Perhaps that squirrel's death in front of us was its most beautiful moment of creation, and perhaps its death will be re-payed by me and the other person in life a thousandfold during our lifetime in this world. |

It's a great sharing. I think this story reminds us the beauty of being human. Most of us are soaked in a resigned, skeptical and evil society. But this story really always reminds me about the other side of being human.
