Spirit guides and gut feelings
Gut feelings. Guides can poke you in the gut when you’re experiencing something they want you to pay attention to. Following your gut feelings is probably a good idea. Have you ever had this eerie feeling that something terrible was going to happen but you couldn’t quite put your finger on it? That might be a guide poking you in your gut.
This is an exert from one of Erinn's blogs and I just need a little clarity on this. I understand that when guides poke me in the gut I'm experiencing something they want me to pay attention to. But, why would they want me to pay attention to something that's bad?
For example my parents are going through a divorce and they are both constantly at each other's throats (and have been their entire marriage) and I can tell my guides are poking me in the gut, and now I know that means I'm experiencing something they want me to pay attention to. But why on earth would my spirit guides want me to pay attention to something so negative? Do you guys get what I'm saying?
Sometimes those gut feelings are red flags, telling you that you're in a situation that isn't good for you. Maybe it's not that your guides want you to focus on the negative, but to see how negative the situation really is and how badly it effects you. In essence, those gut feelings say, "Take care of yourself and get out of this situation!"
When my parents divorced, it became clear to me (eventually) that I had to stop enduring long phone conversations with each parent, listening to them rant bitterly against each other. I finally said to each of them, "I love you, and I love my other parent. Because I love you both, it hurts me to hear you say nasty things about each other, so please don't talk about it with me."
What am I supposed to do if I feel unwelcome everywhere?
What is the difference in emotion when guides are poking me in the gut to pay attention to something and when I "have a b ad gut feeling" that something isn't righ tin my life. Is one sensation feel better than the other. Because my gut burns sometimes and is that a guide poking me in the gut or does that mean that something isnt right?
I had a gut feeling a few days ago about a new male friend, who I seemed to get on really well with but I had not feelings for him etc.
My gut feelings was telling me not to trust this man. To cut a long story short nothing bad happened but he got way out of order and have heavy and obsessive etc. Anyways I won't be seeing him again.
I would say, try not to read too much into them but if it keeps coming up you know for your to be on full alert. The reason why I say this is because if you start reading into things then your mind will get in the way leaving you unsure of the message or whatever you want to call it.
I've been following my hunches/gut feelings for over 20yrs now and it's my rock. A few times I did not take any notice and I paid the price bigtime esp. in relationships.
If you're new to trying to listen to them or if you have a lot of drama in your life, it can be challenging to know what comes from your guides and what comes from your own head. My experience is that hearing my guides often feels like "knowing." The thoughts/feelings/ideas that come from that knowing generally lead to feeling more confident, loved/loving, and calm, whether I'm choosing to face something unpleasant or deciding to steer my life in a new direction.
You might find Sonia Choquette's book Trust Your Vibes useful.
I agree with Kaspian. Sonia Choquette's book could be helpful to you.
It sounds like you're becoming increasingly attuned to your gut while at the same time, you're tempted to give into your fears and self-doubt about your intuition and spirit guidance. The more you learn to listen to your feelings, the less you will focus or channel energy into fear. The positive and calm feelings are the ones that will ground you no matter what is unfolding in your life.
I had that "gut feeling" so strong in the beginning of my last relationship and all throughout.
My friends say, "Well, Lacey, you had thought about ending it countless times before it got so serious, why are you surprised that all that happened?" Boy, I tell you, I HATE hearing that, even though I know it's true.
I ignored those "gut feeling" or "spirit guides" that had always been so good to me, and I payed the price BIG TIME. In fact, I'm still trying to get myself back on track.
So, if you got the feeling, just try and meditate, get in touch with the universe. Maybe the reasons for the feelings will show...But, always listen to that gut!
