I was wondering if anybody could possibly give light to what this is - I'm very new to meditation, and don't know too much about energy forces. I decided to try Automatic Writing tonight. I went into a quiet place, turned on some very soft meditative music, grabbed a blank sheet of paper and a pen, and sat down in a comfortable office chair. I then closed my eyes, cleared my mind to the best of my abilities, started taking deep breaths, and told my soul very slowly "Please give me the highest and wisest reading/advice". Almost instantly I felt as though an entity was beginning to enter my body. My heart rate rapidly increased, and it became very hard to breath (it felt similar to an asthma attack). My head rolled back (and started rolling in slow circles), and I felt as though I was floating up. I had no control over my body anymore - and this scared me. I opened my eyes, and everything went away. My heart rate took a while to come down, however. I was incredibly moved by this experience. This was a beautiful feeling - something seemed to have entered my body, however something told me that something wasn't right. This was why I opened my eyes. I tried the experience again about 5 minutes later - same setting, music, etc. This time, however, I closed my eyes and envisioned a white light enveloping me - to protect me. I think I might have been scared - so I didn't relax fully. The experience I had the first time didn't happen again. However, towards the end of meditation, my hand started rapidly shaking (kind of like the machines that measure the strength of earthquakes). It seemed as though something of a higher power was controlling my hand - it slowly moved across the paper. I ended up with a long line of zig-zags that were very close together. Can anyone tell me what I've experienced (both events I've described) - and does anyone have any tips on protecting myself for future meditation sessions? Thanks a lot for your help, Jason |

Jason, You will get a lot of different ideas on this, so don't take mine as gospel, but I believe that we are subject only to our fears, and nothing else. Only that which we fear has any power over us. When we start out exploring altered states of reality, we typically have a lot of "belief baggage," fears that we were taught or picked up along the way. This can quickly manifest in our experiences. Without the consent of your belief, any entity -- positive or negative -- will have a hard time manifesting in your presence, much less have any power over you. But if a white light protection eliminates or reduces your fears, then by all means do it; that will help you overcome those hidden fears through positive experience. But it is my advice not to get attached to any observance because it's conditioning and it reinforces attachment to fear. But also, interpretation of these experiences is a tricky thing. We're used to interpreting our experiences through the framework of the physical. Just because an energy is uncomfortable doesn't mean it's negative, or even sentient. For example, shaking and unintentional movements are very common in the course of meditation as your energy begins to flow and hits blockages in your unused energy channels. There is a lot of energy out there, and you're just beginning to explore it. Good luck! Andy Last edited by AndyMartin; 11-12-2006 at 09:55 PM. |

Thanks a lot Andy! I've actually been experimenting more with meditation. I've been experiencing more twitching and uncontrollable movements - in my most recent meditation experience (only a few minutes ago) - towards the beginning, I lost control of my breathing - my breathing rate quickly increased - and it felt like someone else was controlling it. Then towards the end of the experience, my eyelids started rapidly twitching. At the end of the experience (exactly at the end of the meditation song I was listening to), my eyelids opened wide and my eyes felt like they were being pushed back into my head. Quite amazing experiences. Meditation is amazing - it makes me feel much more "in tune" with my spiritual side. |

So it sounds like you're moving energy in your meditation, which can be a good thing, but can have side effects like what you've described. The good news is that as you practice, it should subside because you're energy channels will clear up and activate. But the downside is, if you activate without balancing, it can take a while for things to settle down. Try to focus on your connection to the ground as you meditate. Imagine roots extending from your legs deep into the earth grounding out the excess energy. Also, where do you focus your attention when you meditate? Try to hold your awarenes just behind and below your navel rather than anyplace higher, like the third eye. Let me know how it goes. Andy | |

As one who's had extremely dramatic energy experiences...without being grounded... Andy's advice to ground yourself is a must. Or you can learn the hard way like I have. I'll find someplace here to write about my bazaar happenings eventually. I sort of stumbled into an energetic opening and then tried to figure out what was happening. Lots of automatic movements and eventually writing and energy work that is spontaneous and more from outside of my awareness. It's unusual, but cool |

Jason, There is quite a bit of information out their about channeling and to me what you experienced is just that. However I am no expert but have read and interesting book and the authors also have a website - but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to state the information here in these forms. So if the Moderators would be so kind as to give me an ok or nay. I would love to share the information with you. |

Jason, The information I was refering to in my previous post is a website created by Ester and Jerry Hicks at Abraham-Hicks Ester channels Abraham and the information on this site is quite amazing and inspiring. I've read their book called "Ask and it is Given" in my opinion if every one read this book we could create a wounderful world for ourselves. It also has processes in it to help raise your vibration. At the very least I would urge you to check out their website. |

You have picked up a very old thread, Kat. Anyway, if I may offer some advice, the present moment awareness is the key to dissolving the belief baggage. In other words, learn to meditate. We are living in very exiciting times, getting a tremendous amount of support from the Universe in all our spiritual efforts, so it is much easier than before. It may be a never-ending process but if you persevere, you should see a significant difference very soon. Merrick |
