ok just hypothetically, what if you could shift your whole physical body into the Astral Plane.

Does anyone think this is possible? A bit sort of Night Watch-esque but not as fanciful obviously.

Hmmm...

That's a difficult one.

There is probably not much chance, simply because the body is of this world, but the astral body is not. The astral body can move astrally, but is otherwise anchored to the physical body. The physical body is not a mirror image, mainly because it is of a realm that moves at a slower pace.

For example, think on the elementalist ideas about Earth: it is the slowest, most corporeal, and most physical of the elements, while Water is the most emotional, and still the second most physical. Thus, emotions and bodily actions are something that is only manifest in the physical world.

Then look at Air, which is the second most astral of elements, and is symbolic of mind. Thus the mind is an ethereal presence that is tethered to the astral body, not the physical one. Finally, Fire is the most astral, and the most direct and active, suggesting that it is the source of our highest vibrations (direct activity on an astral level is manifest as huge, high vibrations).

So basically, to try and act as your astral body with your physical body would require a reversal of your self-hierarchy, causing you to potentially be open to outside suggestion and corruption.

It's possible, I imagine, but only insomuch as it is severely dangerous.

Ok so I need a camera, some towels and some plastic sheets to cover my room. Any more suggestions? Should I drink some Herbal Tea beforehand maybe?

This is part of the Tao school curriculum.

I don't think the practice method has been written down in English--and I wouldn't trust it if it was.
