floating around without my body?!

Hello all,

I think it's the right forum here to post that. Something strange happened to me last summer, and as I have no experience with such paranormal things, I don't know what it is. I'd like to know!

Last summer I visited my mother in France. It's a farm there, with a lake a few hundred meters from the house. One night before going to bed I was lying on my bed just doing nothing but relax. Suddenly, I felt something slowly pulling me out of my body. Really! it was very strange to feel myself separate from the body. Then I saw myself from above lying on the bed with closed eyes. I wondered what happened to me. I thought about going outside, and immediately passed through the door and was outside. I was floating two or three meters above the ground and could move only by thinking where I wanted to go to. It was great not to have any weight! So I decided to go to the lake. Since I had arrived I hadn't found the time to go and see it. So, why not now, I thought. I followed the path to the lake, down to the river through the trees, up on the other side, over a field... always floating. I saw a wild pig (there are lots of them there) and an owl, everything was as it would really have been, very realistic. The animals didn't seem to notice me, I wondered if they could feel me. When I arrived to the lake, I was very surprised : a hedge between two hayfields, which had always been there since I can remember, was missing! Everything was like it really was, but this one hedge was just missing. That scared me a little. That just wasn't normal. Suddenly I thought I should not go too far, or I could lose the connection to my body and never be able to reintegrate it! The idea I could remain bodyless and live the rest of my life in this abstract form made me feel very uncomfortable. I didn't like the idea my body was lying somewhere alone neither. It was very vulnerable alone. What if something happens to it while I'm away? So I decided to go back. It still was a very pleasant feeling to float around. As I arrived to the trees near the river, I asked myself "why should I follow the path, if I can fly I'll just jump over the trees!" and whoop, I jumped over the trees, went through the door and saw myself lying on the bed again. I didn't know how to reintegrate my body, so I just went into it, trief to fill it entirely, I then kept very quiet without moving, hoping it would somehow work and concentrating on feeling my heart beat. After a long, long time, I carefully tried to move a few toes, then fingers, my face... it was ok, I was back in. I stood up and went around a little, happy to feel my weight again.

So far so good, could be possible that I imagined the whole thing. But the really amazing thing is that a few days later, I went to the lake with my mother. And the hedge was missing. It was all exactly like I saw it while floating around! "Where's the hedge?!" I asked my mother. "oh, your uncle has cut it away in spring, to make one large field from the two little ones" she said. Of course they didn't tell me such a detail.

Now tell me please what THAT was!!! I'm very curious.

What you describe is a classic out of body experience. You're lucky it went so easily and well and that you were able to maintain control that long.

so, I really was there? Or did I actually stay in the bed and just exactly know how everything was at this moment in another place for being connected? If I was there, how could I see without my eyes?? On the other hand, if I just knew everything, why didn't I know if my body is fine while floating around?

Rose... when you dream how do you "see" with your eyes closed? It's the same thing when you're out of body. You can see and hear.

And being out of body doesn't make you all-knowing. Wish it did.

In one sense, you actually didn't leave your body because you are not in a body. Pondering those various questions you have asked may eventually lead you to the conclusion (correct in my opinion) that location is part of the overall grand illusion. Sometimes, I like to say that the center of your soul is everywhere, and the circumference is nowhere. When one "leaves the body", you are simply moving your locus of perception outside of this focus called your body, out into this focus called the physical world. You have subconscious agreements to keep focused on your body while it is physically functioning (or at least when the brain is awake). This is why you don't just get lost forever in the spirit realms when you go to sleep.

And regarding knowing about the condition of your body whilst away from it: it is certainly possible to be aware of any information. The barriers to any information in existence are in your own mind and nowhere else. Also remember, you have a somewhat limited conscious focus simply because it is not necessary for us to be aware of every iota of data in our environment. You have an unconscious mind, which absorbs pretty much all data you come in contact with (and is also uplinked with universal mind/higher self), a subconscious, which filters data that your conscious mind will become aware of, and your conscious mind, which analyzes and observes the spoonfed data.

What do you do when you feel that pull?
I had this a couple days ago and immediately I thought, hey this is it, I'm getting out of my body, let's do it and then it stopped. As if my awareness of it stopped it. Any ideas?

Yes this happens frequently. What is happening is you are separating from your body but you're still superimposed on it. Once separation is complete just stretch out of your body to iniate your travels.

Trying to float out doesn't usually work for me, I have to roll out which is scary because you think you're going to hit the ground and feel pain but you end up standing up.

And to describe the eyes thing, usually for me I can't see anything when for a bit but all of a sudden I can feel the 3rd eye giving me vision. I even looked in my room mirror and I actually saw my physical body with my physical eyes shut. It was shocking but I stayed calm.
