I am not for or against Sylvia. I make no claims about her ability. I just think i'ts wrong to conclude something without investigating both sides. Have you spoken to the families who feel they got great advice from her? Have you personally spoken to someon who got a bad reading from her? I hear a lot of anger about her success. She has a high demand, which is why her prices are high. Investigate before you tie her to the stake and burn her.

My conclusions have come from watching her on tv numerous times. Perhaps I am wrong. Maybe she is a good psychic, but I have seen NO evidence to suggest that she is. I am just starting to learn about mediumship, and certainly hope that other mediums are more competent than Ms Brown.

Hmmmm......

Is Osama bin Laden a terrorist? I guess that depends on who you ask....

As far as I'm concerned I would rather eat a cactus whole than have anything to do with her!

Either way, that's anecdotal and isn't proof for or against her "abilities."

By the way, I think the sense of bitterness about her success has more to do with the notion that she's taking advantage of people at their most vulnerable point, especially those that are recently bereaved, or are searching for a missing person. How low can a person get? It's as bad, or worse, than the concept of "buying" salvation by tithing to the church, which was referred to as the "sale of indulgences."

Well, apparently not. But if you ride a motorcycle, buy a good helmet. It'll save your brains.

Whenever I see the likes of Sylvia Browne, or hear about the "sale of indulgences" I am reminded of some poetic lyrics to the song "Leper Messiah"....

It sums things up beautifully!

Spineless from the start, sucked into the part
circus comes to town, you play the lead clown
Please, please
spreading his disease, living by his story
Knees, knees
falling to your knees, suffer for his glory
You will

[Chorus]
Time for lust, time for lie
time to kiss your life goodbye
Send me money, send me green
Heaven you will meet
Make a contribution
and you'll get a better seat
[End Chorus]

Bow to Leper Messiah

Marvel at his tricks, need your Sunday fix
blind devotion came, rotting your brain
Chain, chain
Join the endless chain, taken by his glamour
Fame, Fame
Infection is the game, stinking drunk with power
We see

[Chorus]

Bow to Leper Messiah

Witchery, weakening
Sees the sheeps are gathering
set the trap, hypnotize
now you follow

[Chorus]

Lie.

I've never watched an entire episode with Sylvia Brown, I have only seen her when changing channels a few years ago. I remember I paused and watched for a few min, and then changed the channel, thinking immediately how fake she was and that I just didnt like her. I knew the few min. that I saw of her talking was something anyone could do, if they used the right psychology in the right setting. I usually get a vibe or feel off of someone and can tell things like that, but I dont know why or what it is. With Sylvia, it was and immediate uck and kinda disgust.

I didnt know she was popular (or her convictions) until recently, and especially after reading this thread.

I know my grandfather is the only person in my family who is open-minded and reads about everything, I always talk to him about things I cant with anyone else in my family. Well, a few weeks ago we were discussing a house they own that I now live in, and orbs, and EVP's. I was asking him his opinion on orbs and he replied, "Well, Sylvia Brown says all orb's are Angels." I immediately laughed until I realized that he looked offended and serious. Then He said, "I watch Slyvia Brown often she seems pretty legit."

For the 1st time ever, I was very disappointed in my Grandpa's way of thinking about something. I hated to hear that he was a Sylvia follower.

Actually, it was at that point that I said I needed to find someone else who was like minded and had similiar intrests that I could talk to and hear their opinions.(very hard to find in the around here in Louisiana) Later that week I came to this site somehow looking up some paranormal word. I don't know who Steve Pavlina is or anything, but I am learning!

But anyway, I'm skeptcial of any "Psychic" on TV.

I Have Had Some Thoughts After Just Finishing One Of Her Books. What Bothers Me Is That I'm Afraid What I Feel Is A Bad Reflection On Myself: I Get This Awful Message Over And Over That "i See Through Her". I Find This Disturbing, I Am Not Trying To Discredit Her In Any Way!! I Want To Beleive In Her But This Thought Won't Leave Me!!
As A Side, Sylvia Herself Tells Us She Is Only About 85% Accurate. Please Remember That Is Simple As Pie To Find Fault, Even With Einstein. The Difficult Thing Is To See The Positive In A Realistic Way, After All She Is Still An Earth Bound Mortal.........

I get a bad vibe from her. I'm not claiming to have well-developed psychic abilities but I have a strong intuition that is usually right on the money.

She looks to my 'inner eye' as someone trapped in a jail of her own making, ready at any moment to be caught in her lies. Almost a desperate air about her. She never sits comfortably when I see her. Always on the edge of her seat as if she is ready to run. Her eyes are never still. She doesn't have confidence. Just a boldness or cockiness that is a turn off.

Very weird.

Jennifer

I know this is an old thread, but I just watched this and can't believe people take this woman seriously:

Personally, I don't care whether psychic abilities are real or not. All I care about is this, if psychics know they cannot be one hundred percent accurate then why are they telling unhappy, venerable people about their dead loved ones? Why are they floating around in the media when they could be out there trying to help people like Mother Theresa did? Like I said, I don't care whether psychic abilities are real or not, I have no respect for anyone who has the power to help others but who's eye is only focussed on the media and the money!!!!

Yep.

Admittedly I don't know much about her, but from the few times I've heard her talk she just gave me that vibe.

All Sylvia cares about is making money. Just look at her website. She has plenty of jewelry to buy. Also, take note that she charges $700 per half hour reading. What a joke. I doubt that she's even psychic. She acts like a humanitarian, but she's just a manipulative money hound.

Folks, I'm really not comfortable with the fact that people are attacking someone who is not here to defend herself and using anecdotal evidence to do it, not personal experience. Have your opinion of her if you want, that's all fine and dandy. But really, if you don't have something nice to say, why say anything at all?

This is an old thread and I'm going to lock it. Let's find something constructive to talk about.
