Question Developing a "sixth sense"

So I feel like I'll just be labeled as a "n00b" but these questions are burning in my mind, so I'm asking them anyway.

I've always been extremely interested in the paranormal, but I wouldn't consider myself gifted in those areas. Sure, every once in awhile I'll experience deja vu, or know what song is playing on the radio before I turn it on, or know who is calling before the phone rings. But to be completely honest, those occurrences probably don't happen enough to be more than coincidences. (Yeah, yeah, positive thinking, law of attraction, etc. etc. )

My main question I guess would be this: Can psychic skills be developed, or must one be born with them?

And the follow-up question, as I'm sure you can guess, would be how?

I realize this is kind of general, but this is all kind of new and confusing to me. I'd just really like to unlock the abilities of my subconscious mind, and I don't think I'm alone. (At least I hope not! ) Thanks!

We can not but love Erin: Erin Pavlina’s Blog » Blog Archive » Ask Erin: Can anyone be psychic?
See how she answers all of our questions before we have even asked them?...

As I am not quite all-around psychic myself I can't give you any "how?", I must say though that anyone who doesn't want to tap into their subconscious power must be a fool. Good thinking, we're one the same track.

Everyone is born with a sixth sense, although social conditioning and other factors have forced alot of us to ignore it or be blind to it.

Scott, your psychic sense can be developed. I have experienced this first hand over the last couple of months developing my own 6th sense which was kick started by a book called 'Trust Your Vibes' by Sonia Choquette. It's a very practical and sensible guide to your psychic sense and I strongly recommend you get a hold of this book as it is excellent for "begginers".

Good Luck!

Default We can be intuitive!

I strongly believe (and have had extensive proof on this matter) that Humans and most mammals do have a sixth sense and I agree with Nathan that it is our social conditioning that inhibits our ability to foster this.
Wolves are a great example of telepathic abilities and dogs, though much less refined than their ancestors, are often seen eagerly expecting the return of their owner well before they could be seen, smelled or heard. Rupert Sheldrake has done numerous studies to better understand this phenomenon.
With regards to humans, our capabilities are similar. We can all be telepathic, intuitive, clairvoyant, etc. The question is whether or not we embrace this part of our abilities or neglect it. In our society, where logical reasoning using the left hemisphere of the brain is considered a great necessity and path to success, the more intuitive right brained activity or the use of subconscious processes is largely ignored.
There's a book entitled "The Evolutionary Glitch" in which the author, Albert Garoli, clearly explains how our evolution into highly intelligent beings has essentially become a double-edged sword. He focuses more on how our modern minds full of social condition work to inhibit our success and prosperity but the message is the same: We have increased our ability to learn and nearly lost our ability to follow our natural intuition.

I think every skill can be developed if you put enough effort into it. And time.
I don't have such persistence, though.

Your welcome.

they say it's a bit of both, you are born with a level of natural talent for it, and you can further develop it by training.

Just like weight lifting, it takes time, practice, and effort.
