I have had lots and lots of dreams where I can "stand" on air. This isn't floating, hovering or flying but literally standing on air as though it was solid. If someone is chasing me I "will" the air to be solid under my feet and then just "walk" up the air as though I'm ascending a staircase. The people chasing me can't do this so I just stand above them in the air, looking down at them and smiling. It's a very strange feeling. Sometimes I just lift straight upwards until I'm several feet off the ground. Quite often I have also been able to walk through walls. I walk up to a wall and touch it and it feels very solid. I then gently push against it and my hand moves right through it. I then walk through the wall. This has also been good for evading people. People quite often seem to be chasing me, although I don't know why. I have also had quite a few dreams about flying, but for a long time (years) I have had this fear of power lines in my dreams. Quite often during these dreams, I am unable to fly very high because there are power lines above me. I could hear the hum of the electricity passing through them as I got closer. The more I was afraid of them, the more there seemed to be. I remember some dreams where the power lines literary covered the air above me, overlapping each other, so I couldn't fly any higher. Then in one dream I decided that the power lines can't stop me and so I just flew straight through them. Ever since then, I haven't had a problem with them. This enabled me to fly out of the Earth's atmosphere and out into space. I have flown to other planets in our solar system including flying straight through the centre of Jupiter. That was a bit scary at first but I just decided to do it. The thing about all of these dreams is they seem very, very real. Sometimes when I wake up, I'm very surprised to find that I'm in bed. It's very disappointing. |

My name is angel and I'm 14 and ever since I watched the CRAFT when i was four ive been interest in all the paranormal. I don't know if i ve actually ever had a lucid dream but was only educated a month ago when i read a fiction novel. I've had some pretty strange dreams though heree are a few: I was with harry potter and we were visisting these purple blobs we were talking to triplets who were extremely sweet and gave us these brooms and gave mine a comfy purple and green seat when i asked for it to be softer they did. then we flew out of their hole (like a moles burrow). And flew but then we flight restrictions (could only go so high and far) we were in like a praires feild and we saw two grizzleis coming by so we went into an outhouse(like shreks) and hid because we couldn't escape. then they came and started pushing it and trying to open the door. I remeber my dreams well and even though it scared me it was the only time i ever flew in a dream it was wonderful (this was two years ago). I had another one (maybe thee or four yrs ago) where i was selling oranges in pimalgram days on a train a romantic situation or some thing, i don't remeber much but it was exactly like a movie (it even played background MUSIC!!). Ive had a few adult ones and scary situations i think i know i'm dreaming in them but im honestly not sure. I know you also said dreams can't hurt you but in my dreams i feel taste hear and see everything!! I ve had another just two months ago where a new teacher at my school (who i didn't have for any classes) ducktaped some kids mouth and then we started talking about marshes. Then it happened EXACTLY like my dream in my new outdoor ed class. My dreams do stuff like this all the time but this was the only time where it wasn't like a sentence only. i've never had a dream that wasn't like real life (except when tony the tiger chased me). people only ever talk sense to me in my dreams but the only thing is i have a veiw of where its like i'm a different person watching me i talk though as me Sometimes my third person is watched by me and it's (the 3rd person) not usually me. i hear voices (not crazy just my name and see I guess "ghosts" <very rarely>, i have intenese hearing and hear peoples thoughts but only recognize them as my own <somebody will say the exact thing i was about to say>, i smell everything and just know things, i'm also practically a genius <literally my IQ is 157, genius is 160>) Anyways am i lucid dreaming and if not how do i? Please help i am so confoosed! |

Hi guys, Lucid Dreaming is a topic I`m absolutely fascinated with since I heard about it so I´ll tell you my first personal experience with it. After having done reality checks and journaling about my dreams for about 2 weeks without nameable results I finally succeeded in having a lucid dream, even though it happened more by chance. I woke up in the morning at about 7 am but had to be up at 8 am so i decided to sleep for another hour. I was lying on my back. After a few minutes it felt like I was wearing headphones and listening to music (which I often do in the bed, lying on my back), which of course I was just dreaming. But my consciousness didn`t slip away for a second, I entered the dream state right away. I sit up in my bed, my body feeling very heavy and tied to the mattress. At that moment I thought "wait I minute I wasn`t wearing headphones while I got to bed, I better perform a reality check". So I took a look at my alarm clock but there were no numbers on it, just some weird lines. Then it finally hit me - "I`m dreaming!" I jumped up and - just as I`ve had read - floated above the floor. The funny thing was that even my pajama looked exactly as in real life, and so did the rest of my room. So it was sort of a dreamed OOBE. I then flew to the direction of my window but I was so excited that I woke up... After that I had about 2 or 3 other short lucid dreams but this one was the most bodacious one! |

Last night, something amazing happened to me in a dream. I was walking on a street in the neighborhood, when i met somebody who gave me a present. The present was the exact same present that an ex-girlfriend gave me a few years ago. While looking at the present, i realized that this was not possible, i had trow away that present a long time ago ( a keyring with an animal attached to it). So i realized: I MUST BE DREAMING. SO what did i do ? Well stupid as it sounds, i tried to wake up and yes, i woke op. But now i now how it feels, and I'm definitely going to work on it. Greetzzz |

I was in a dream, then I saw a tissue box, and I tried to change the words on it (it was one of those reality tests to practice lucid dreaming). I managed to change it and I thought, Cool! I'm dreaming! Then I went to watch TV. In the dream. Guess habits just die hard. |

A few nights ago I had my first lucid dream, I was in my school's gym, and we were laying ice hockey for PE(there was an ice rink in the gym), and then my pants fell down, but at least I still had my boxers on, so I checked by feeling to make sure I had boxers on, and I didn't, so I tried to pull my shorts up, but they weren't at my ankles. So I ran in to the locker room, but then I realized that our gym doesn't have an ice rink, so I became lucid. I walked around and talked to some people, then I lost lucidity and went downtown, then I regained lucidity as I was about to cross the street. So as I was crossing, I tried to fly, I jumped into the air as I was crossing, but that didn't do anything, so I walked in to a parking garage, and I can't remember any more of it. Any tips for flying in lucid dreams? |

I was in an office I knew before, and yet, this place had expanded greatly. Walls of the warehouse had come down at the same time as many new empty cardboard boxes appeared to act as obstacles. I made my way around them all, floating. I encountered a large number of additional co-workers beside former ones I'd known. They were startled to see me. They were eating a cake with artificial icing. I didn't eat. It smelled funny to me. In the next room, the bosses were deliberating about a financial matter I had brought to the attention of one boss in particular. He was at a loss about how to solve it. His business partner simply listened while the frustrated one shook his head. I floated through the door, but they didn't see me. |

I dreamt I was at a party. A pool party. I thought it would be cool to walk on water. So I went for a stroll on the pool. Noone noticed though. They were all sitting round the side laughing and chatting. So, standing at the edge of the pool, I said in a big loud voice "Heh Look what i can do..I can walk on water!". Everyone looked. I took a step and fell in just like everyone always does. |

You know how there is Mother's Day, Father's Day. Red Nose Day, etc Well In my dream it was "The Day that God Answered" That meant that anything you asked for would be given. I was on the beach watching 2 guys fighting. One was getting pretty beaten up. This was surprising cos he was built like a football player. He yelled out desparately "Please God get me out of this!" Just then an angel who looked like a beautiful petite asian bride came cataploting headfirst out of the sky, picked him up in her arms, and stormed off with him up the beach. It so funny. (I got my prayer answered too a bit later on in the dream) |

Just last week I had a lucid dream in which I caught myself slumbering on a bed then realized I was dreaming. I was basicly sleeping in my own dream, so I took advantage of this and had an "OBE" of the sort. I was out of my body and nearly touching the ceiling of the roof, I'm not sure where or what bed I was in. I looked down at myself and just smiled because I realized I was floating or you could say flying! Man, that feeling you get is amazing! I didn't stay out of my body for a long time, sadly to say my alarm clock went off >.< Although I enjoyed my dream greatly, and the experience I got from it was peacefulness and happieness. I wokeup with a big smile on my face |

One of my most memorable lucid dreams happened back when I was in high school. I was dreaming that i was a member of an army or was an inmate, or somehow a combo of both. My fellow inmates were scrubbing a dirty old interior of a school bus. It was tough and disgusting work, as the whole interior was covered in dried puke, and all we had were tiny little toothbrushes to do the job. I passingly thought to myself that this is a miserable dream I'm having, and then I realized that it was indeed a dream! I looked up at the sargeant in charge of our crew and told him that I didn't want to scrub the dirty bus anymore. He laughed at me amusingly and yelled at me to continue what I was doing. As he said that I remember thinking, wow this seems so real. I looked around me and noticed all the details of the bus. The dried puke was very very disgusting and smelly!! I thought to myself that I needed to get out of that bus pronto, so I threw the toothbrush down, much to chagrin of the sargeant. and walked out of the bus. Once outside, I realized it was parked on a tropical crescent-shaped island. We were surrounded by an expansive blue sky and clear turquoise beaches. Breathtaking!!! I heard the sargeant yelling at me to get back inside and finish the job, so I went back in the bus and started rambling on about how beautiful it was outside and how everyone needed to come and see for themselves. The sargeant got very mad and yelled that no one was leaving the bus until it was cleaned spick and span. I turned to the sargeant and started laughing and said "That's easy!" I snapped my fingers and the bus was instantly clean! Since then, I've had many lucid dreams, but a common difficulty I'm having in them is the simple maneuvering of my dream body. As soon as I realize it's a dream, I have a hard time walking around! It feels like walking through thick sludge. And the effort inevitably wakes me up in the end. |

I remember having a lucid dream but can't remember what it was about, I do remember thinking in the dream that it was a dream and I could change whatever I wanted. I don't think I'd call this a lucid dream just weird - I was in bed and woke up to my alarm, getting up and going through all my normal morning routine, showering, getting dressed etc. Was leaving my bedroom when my alarm went off and I woke up in bed and realised it had been a dream. Again did all my morning routine, heading out the door and my alarm went off again. Woke up in bed, thinking how weird it was to have a dream within a dream. But it happened again. When I did wake up the 'fourth' time I wondered if I was still dreaming but found I was actually awake - unless of course I'm still dreaming and the past couple of years of my life is nothing but a dream. |

My first lucid dream really scared me because I didn't know what was happening and I thought I was trapped inside my dream. That night I had been reading LOTR until I had fallen asleep really early in the morning, and in my dream I hadn't fallen asleep but was too tired to read any further. I could see flashing lights outside my window and thought there were aliens. I got scared so I walked out of bed and went to the door but when I opened the door it was my school hall. I thought '**** I'm dreaming' and 'woke up' back in my bed. This time I pretended to play the playstation and opened my eyes to find a playstation controller in my hands. I thought 'Oh my God I am still dreaming!' and I 'woke up' three more times before I woke for real. |

The first lucid dream I can remember was when I was a child (around 5 or 6). Before being lucid, I used to have a nightmare where I came out of my room in the night, and feared something "evil" that was downstairs in the basement. I tried to turn the lights on. The first time it works. Turning them off worked as well. Then turning them on again didn't work any more. The usual scenario of this dream was that I eventually fell downstairs, and once I reached the bottom, I woke up. Since I had this nightmare very often, I got used to it. So when coming out of my room, I directly tried the light switch. If the lights didn't turn on consistently each time the switch was on "on", it was a sign that I was dreaming. So I just consciously threw myself downstairs and wake up. |

Why is it that a few people on here have woken up when kissing, having sex or seeing a naked woman happens in a dream? I noticed that when I have a lucid dream, similar things happen, too. I'll be having the dream, then somewhere in the middle or even near the end I'll realize it's a dream and the dream might continue for a minute. Then, I'll try some crazy stuff that I couldn't do in real life ,like socially unacceptable things, ] and then I'll get the thought... "Why not have some sex?". Then the dream ends and I sometimes wake up, sometimes don't. I think it might be because it's near the end of the dream cycle anyway. What do you think? |

Reading all these dreams is awesome! I only had one lucid dream ever and it was when I was a teenager. I decided to put a swimming pool in the living room, and I was swimming around in it, having a good old time. Then my mom came in with my sister and started screaming, "JEN! What the hell are you doing?!? I told you NOT to put a swimming pool in the living room!! Get it out of here right now!!" I yelled back, "NO! I want it in here!" and we yelled back and forth, but then I realized I was dreaming. That was great because while she was yelling at me I started splashing around and making a huge mess. She got even more mad and started yelling at me more. Then I jumped onto the wall of the pool, causing it to break and the water from the pool exploded aaaaalllllll over the house! I was laughing like a mad maniac while my mom continued to yell at me in fury! HAAHAH! That was a fun dream for a rebel teenager. =P |

Hmm the thought of lucid dreaming or astral makes my heart go fast, dunno why. I had a Lucid dream when I was really young, I was outside of my house the sky was purple the houses were green and brown, all coloured were like inverted and halloween colours... and then I realized I was dreaming and wait what felt like an hour to wake up. I just remembered right now that I had another lucid dream awhile back where there was like indiana jones, and me and I wanted a pokéball because I noticed I was dreaming and knew I could do anything once I had realized, and I never got my pokéball. |

My first lucid dream occurred with me becoming conscious in a field near my parents house. But rather than boundless potato fields as far as the eye could see (like in the real world), there was a sprawling desert landscape. I was amazed at the reality of the dream. So crisp. So beautiful. I looked into the sunset and saw the most sensuous collection of red, orange, and violet. I was stunned. It was then that I noticed the two leprechaun midget dudes in front of me. They began running rapidly away from me, and being a dream I followed suit, moving at supersonic speeds after them. They eventually disappeared evading me. Later on, I remember sticking my hands in a ditch, consciously analyzing the sensation of the cool, ripply, dream water on my hands. I was gawking once again. The dream ended during a flight attempt, which turned into a series of giant leaps into the air over telephone poles. It was an amazing experience while it lasted. |

Funny, but very much like my first experience! In my dream, I saw a book on a table. I thought "I wonder if I can pick up that book?" My hand reached out, I touched the book so it slid a little, I went: "Wow! I'm lucid drea..." and I woke up.

It's been amazing for me to read some of Steve's articles and everyone's posts on Lucid dreaming -- I've been able to make sense of my experiences when I was much younger! When I was a kid I used to lie in bed and just imagine that I was spinning around like a top, and once I got going I would start moving on another axis... really *feeling* the movement, but consciously not letting any of my muscles tense or flex... and before you know it I was flying! I could go from awake in bed to flying just like that! I've always known and remembered that, although for some reason there has been a block or something in place and I've never had the patience to do it successfully since. It wasn't until about a year ago when I read an article about Lucid Dreaming, and found people explicitly describing the "spinning" method, that I realized that's what I had been doing! And I wondered how had I known how to to this intuitively? It's a method that certainly works, I can vouch for that! I'm now 30 and hope to be able to repeat this again soon :-) Every now and then I suddenly become lucid in my dreams (one of them was even... um... X-rated...) or have what may be considered more "astral travel?" These are times where I have decided I wanted to wake up, but I've had the sensation that I don't know where my body is and it takes me some time to find my way back. I am working on gaining better control of this, I suppose practice makes perfect :-) |

hey all, i am an extremely new lucid dreamer, any help would be appreciated My first dream (unintentional) was being chased through New York city by an Indian guy (who looked like my firend) with an uzi, I hid behind a big sheet of blue plastic and he lost me, but then noticed and shot me...I woke up later like WTF just happened!!! (I was 10) My weirdest dream was the one i had last night (my first time attempting to induce) I said my mantra and went to fall asleep, i remeber waking up and feeling my skin begin to ripple from my forehead down (to my toes) then I heard a deafining boom noise and woke up again( I have been thinking about the possible affects of LSD lately)...does anyone know what that was or why i couldnt control it? or how to control it better tonight? |

I've only had one Lucid dream in my life. I was driving down a dirt track in a go-kart and randomly thought "This isn't real" (even though I've had a lot more obvious dreams) I stopped the go-kart, got out and looked at it, then I blinked and it turned into a BMW M3. Then all of a sudden I start spinning involuntary with my arms out, getting faster and faster, then woke up.
