Hi there, how important do you consider specific chakra meditations, when I want to open/balance my chakras better? Are they essential or do I achieve the same effect, if I'm just living along the affirmations related to each chakra? There is so much (good, guided) meditation stuff out there and I wonder from time to time which ones I want to prefer. Thanks Raphael |

From my own personal experience... I didn't believe much in the power or energy of chakras until my spirit guides started showing me how to use them to do my psychic-medium work. Now I can't beleive I ever got by without them. I understand so much more now about opening, closing, expanding and contracting them. Very valuable to understand. |

I'm going to do a blog entry about it. I need to be careful not to write all my articles inside posts because then not everyone who wants to see them will see them. But I'm adding this to my list of topics to write about.

Erin: You could do what I've been doing for my last couple of blog articles (and for my next one) and use forums posts to organize and get feedback for your articles. As far as chakras, learn with the guided meditations... They are a great way to get practice and learn the visualizations, so that later, you can do it more quickly, almost sub-consciously. |

Erin, the book I'm reading by Barbara Brennan has several descriptions of human energy. One is the aura, which she describes as having multiple levels. Then there's the chakra system. Then there's a haric system that consists of a point a few inches below your belly and a point a few inches below your throat. Then there's the "core star" level where, around your heart, you're one gigantic shining shard of energy. Are you familiar with any of these other levels? I'd never heard of anything except for chakras and auras before! |

| FYI, the book is "Light Emerging," if you wanted to look it up. Her first book, "Hands of Light," I've heard is great too, but it wasn't in the bookstore when I went to get it, and I ended up getting the former instead.

Raphael, One thing you can do is start getting acquainted with your chakras. I'd recommend picking up Wheels Of Life by Anodea Judith. She's a key figure in the introduction of chakra lore and techniques in the West. It's got more info than you really need, but the thing is it's hard to know ahead of time which aspect of the chakras will resonate with you on a level that you can tune in to them. Each one is associated with a color, an element, a principal and more. The easiest way to get started is to pick the aspect that is easiest for you to hold in your mind. Then take fifteen minutes and lie down in a comfortable position and, moving from root to crown, spend two minutes pointing your awareness to the physical region of each chakra while holding the chosen aspect of that chakra in your mind. Imagine that aspect residing within that zone of your body. Be aware of any sensations that arise while you do this, but don't let that distract your attention. Do every day and you will start to become aware of your chakras, which will begin to have an activating and balancing effect on them. That's a prerequisite to any more advanced energy work you may decide to take on anyway, so it's a perfect starting point. Hope that helps, Andy |

Erin, I too, would love to know what your guides told you about opening up your chakras, I've done some investigation on my own. And work to open my third eye, however haven't done much with the other areas. Would love to know how this has benifited you. |

My mom's into reiki and alternative healing techniques big time, and she says initation into reiki is a reiki master activating your chakras for you. I have asked to be in his next class, so i can give a better look into what's going on.

In my last Reiki class, I thought it was interesting that the students who struggled with fear and self-confidence held all their stress in their stomachs. The student who dealt with anger more than fear held all her stress in her chest. In the Brennan book I'm reading, I just got to a chapter with chakra meditations. She's really into this visualization where you see a funnel (with the wide end out from your body and the tip reaching into your spine, one on the front of the body and one on the back) that corresponds with the chakra color, then you twirl it clockwise. I haven't tried this, but it might be worth trying. | |
