Default the great disappearing act: when items move from place to place

a few years ago, my parents and i went to my uncle's lake house for the weekend to meet up with the family. it was a nice weekend, but when we got home we realized that my father had left his insulin and meds at the lake house (my father is a diabetic). this was a really big deal because the lake house was a good 4 hours away and there was no way we cold drive back. my uncle, and everyone else, was gone and there would be no way to get into the lake house. so, like usual, tempers flared, and a fight broke out between my parents on what to do. the meds and insulin were expensive and money was tight, so just replacing them wasn't really an option. as my parents started to get into it, i went into my room to unpack. my hiking back pack, which i had not taken with me, was on the floor by my bed where i had left it before we left. as i went to put it away, i realized there was something in it. i reached inside to empty out whatever it was, and out came my father's kit that had his insulin and meds... which he had left at the lake house. o_0 WTF?!

have you guys ever had something like this happen? what was moved? where was it moved from, and where did it end up? any thoughts on why or how this happens?

You are saying your hiking pack appeared from home , where you had left it with your dads meds inside . This may of been a guarding angel . In the 80s I needed $20 more to make bail for a g.f. I had maxd out my atm card ($200 at that time ) a check cashing place would not cash my check , at the door going out was a $20 bill . I got the money back later. desert rat

It's the Blue People. They move your stuff and then hide behind the corner, watching to see how you'll respond. If you go nuts, they'll giggle and continue to use you for their entertainment. If you relax and let it go, they'll put it back somewhere fun and surprising to entertain you back. Sometimes they're reward you by leaving a $20 bill in your coat pocket for you to find months later.

the backpack was in my room, and i had not taken it to the lake house. i had left it at home. when i went to put it away, when were home from the lake house and my parents were fighting, i found the insulin and meds in the pack. which, without outside influence, would never have happened because a) i never mess with my dad's stuff b) my father and i were not on good terms at all at the time.

have you ever had anything moved desertrat? i've also had keys and such "disappear" only to be found after much annoyed searching either in plain site or in the first place i looked. lol doesn't happen much anymore

angela: blue people? lol makes me think of the beatles

It works every time. Whenever I'm with someone who is freaking out because they can't find something, I remind them that the Blue People are watching, and that if they don't chill out, the Blue People will keep watching and laughing their freak-out. And if they do chill out, they Blue People will leave the item somewhere findable, and possibly even leave a little reward somewhere to be savored later.

And EVERY TIME -- as soon as the person chills out, *POOF!* the item shows up. It never fails.

The Blue People, by the way, subsist on socks stolen from the dryer.

idk why but the thought of tiny little blue people living off of socks form the dryer, and moving my stuff around for their own amusement REALLY makes me giggle (and no i am not laughing at you, but at the idea itself... its really amusing).

well, all i can say to that is the little bastards have gotten many of my socks and a few pairs of underwear over the years, and have turned me into someone who is really good at finding things (lol i'm really good at the "if i was a ____ where would i be" game)

oh, and yes, it usually happens that as soon as you give up looking or cease to freak out about it that you find what it is that you are looking for. sometimes if i REALLY cant find something i kinda just say hey this isn't funny anymore, i really need to find this... and a lot of times i find it shortly after.

Desertrat, you won't find a wiki on THESE Blue People, because they have blue insiders who go in and remove any reference to themselves. As you might imagine, they are REALLY good at removing things from the Internet!

The ghost in my home likes putting cushions on the top of the back of the couch, i dont think it does it for a laugh as it has happened a few times now so i just put the cushion back where it belongs without making a fuss about it.

On the socks dissapearing , it is the sock monster Evil Sock Monster - YouTube On the blue people , I must think on this . To nama adrift I would say it was either a ghost or guard angel that put your dads meds in the back pack . desert rat
