Since last year, I've been trying to meet my spirit guide in a dream. My plan has remained firm. I will meet this guide in the snowy field at the back of my house. No exceptions, and I really emphasise quite often that there must be no exceptions. Last year, I kept getting what I thought was a connection with a wolf. A white/light grey wolf kept appearing in my dreams. At first, it appeared in the snowy field, running around, but as it appeared before I called it, I didn't trust it. I then remember it being wise in another dream, realising my anxiety when I saw it, and so left. A time came when I became lucid, but worried that I would lose my awareness, I decided to call the guide there and then inside my aunt's living room. I acted as if it would be a dog-like animal. To my surprise, a wolf did not enter, but a Jack Russell dog did. It kept biting at my hands, which I found strange at the time as it caused pain. The next thing I know, it's sitting on the couch. I ask about the wolf guide and it shakes its head to each question, suggesting the wolf guide was an illusion I created. When I first ever found out about spirit guides, I immediately thought it would be cool if I had a wolf as a guide, which made me believe that I could have created the wolf myself. There was another occasion when I got the snow but was just outside the field. Various animals appeared when I called the guide, but they were backed by an evil voice. I knew it was a trick. For a long time, I've been trying to meet whatever or whoever my guide/s may be. Within this hour, I had another lucid dream. I remembered my priority and transported myself to the snowy field, which then changed to the snowy area of grass outside of my aunt's house (the house I was in prior to realising it was a dream). My awareness was already slipping as I didn't take any notice. I called my guide, and to my surprise... It was a wolf, the animal I no longer expected, except this time it was black. Black? I found that strange. Why go from white/grey to black? It came up to me in a playful manner, then left, even though I've asked many times in my waking world to be told something insightful upon meeting it. I then tried to call forth all guides again (and briefly thought a spider appeared), but nothing came. If I make a firm plan with the guides and state there should be no exceptions, can there be any exceptions? Should I trust this animal? When I lucid dream again, I will again try... I understand that nobody can tell me whether or not it's my guide. The title just represents the words in my mind. I just wonder if anybody has any thoughts/advice to share. |

I used dreams, once, to look for my power animal-- which, I suppose is a kind of guide. I found myself in a diverse and populated zoo, which was amusingly unhelpful. Maybe I'm too much of an urbanite, too out of touch with nature to have an animal guide. Another time, I sought the voice of my own subconscious, to tell me something wise and insightful, but he would only tell me that I wasn't ready. These inflexible plans, for all their security and stability, are constructs of the ego and superego. So, I would think that nothing much beyond the reflections of yourself at this level, would be able to get through. Perhaps the terrier is your inner child, and the black wolf is the shadow of your id, which doesn't have to be threatening even though it may never act the way you want. I'd just go with it for now. Some things just can't be forced. |

Midwinter Mist, A rule to always follow when asking to meet a spirit guide in a dream, is always expect ....the unexpected. The wolf is a very powerful animal, as far as having a spirit guide animal goes, so having a wolf appear is a very good thing, I would be happy if I were you. Anybody who meet's a guide or angel in a dream, usually doesn't have exactly what they wish to have happen, you really do have to stay open to everything and anything. Being spontaneous is such an important lesson for us human's, I know I have to be much more spontaneous when dealing with my guidea and angels than I ever thought I would, the only time I'm ever dissapointed is when I have a set plan, and of course things don't turn out the way I planned, which is most of the time...lol. Even dealing with nature spirits and devas and fairies, you have to be very spontaneous and be ready for anything, anytime you plan for something beforehand probably won't happen as you expected it to. Here's some information on wolf spirit guides: Guardians Of The Wolf ~ The Wolf As A Spiritual Guide |

Thanks to you both for responding in this topic. I have no problem with having a wolf as a guide. I'd love a wolf as a guide. My problem is that based on my few experiences, I don't trust it. If I have in fact dealt with guides in particular, it would be strange that one guide would claim the other never existed, that I created it because I desired it. I'm just not sure what to believe. But, as Albalida stated, I should probably just go with the flow of things. I cannot determine what exactly I'm encountering at this time. But what I do know is that I will continue to pursue the connection with my guide. |
