1: Why can some people do Astral Travel within 6 months, while others take over 6 years? There are too many factors to name... One of them is your concentration level. Different substances, such as caffeine and sugar, can also affect your ability to think clearly. While willingness doesn't seem to be a problem for you, there are a lot of people who are held back by their subconscious mind, because it recognizes that the person isn't ready yet. Some of these may apply in your case, or it could be any one of several other factors... there really isn't a good way to tell exactly. 2: Tips for settling your thoughts. These are just general tips... I don't know how many apply to you, personally, so I'm assuming the worst case. Practice visualizations. Meditate, both with the goal for emptiness, as well as visual, guided meditations. Eat more fiber, less meat (Many would recommend cutting meat out entirely, but I advise only cutting down), and no foods that have the term 'enriched' in its name. Don't use drugs, including alcohol, caffeine, and tobacco, as well as the harder, illegal drugs. If you can, stay away from medications as well. Be well fed, but not stuffed. Believe in yourself. 3: Was that a lucid dream or astral projection? Only you can tell. 4: Why you couldn't fly: You didn't believe that you could. That was the only barrier. |

That was a lucid dream. Hearing songs playing over and over in your head could actually be a sign of clairvoyance. Every morning when I wake up a song is playing in my head. It took me years to find out this doesn't happen to everyone. I started listening to the words and found out they were messages from spirit. I'll second meditation to quiet your mind. Guide your mind instead of letting it guide you. Well, wait... letting it guide you sometimes is good, but in your case, I would work on getting your thoughts under your own control so that when you're in a dream you can control your dream better. Flying... takes practice. |

Oops, sorry Rudy, I meant to type clairaudience! Sorry about that!! The ability to hear in the spirit realm. But in either case, often the two abilities go hand in hand. Harnessing and increasing this ability would take a while for me to explain and I'm on my way to bed, but I'm sure there are plenty of others who will jump in with some thoughts. If not, I'll be back tomorrow. |

Yeah i can relate to what your saying, sometimes ill just be laying around and out of nowhere usually when im by myself ill hear someone say something but i cant understand whats said, like its in fast forward...but then again, like you said the abilities go hand in hand, actually every night before i go to sleep i can look around my room and it almost looks like theres "things" dancing around my room, and ill turn on the light, see nothing turn them off again and see the wispy figures floating around my room..usually though, when i look at them it will move to the corner of my vision. There was one experience i had that kinda freaked me out, actually it was a few months ago when i first began seeing these wispy figures, i came home and it was late, like 2 30 AM and i meditated for a little bit, well after i was done i opened my eyes and i could see i want to say like a cloud floating about my room...so i put my hand through it and the area i put my hand through felt almost like a cloud of static and the area of my hand that was in it made every hair that was in the cloud stand up , it was strange and i didnt know how to explain it so instead i ignored it, and since then every night i can see wispy figures, do you think its all in my head...it all began when i borrowed this book from my grand father called the Grimoire of Armadel...do you think maybe that had something to do with it, seeing as its an old school book on occult evocation?

actually let me refraise that...the last part about the book, it is when i first actually began seeing things...but i never actually practiced a ritual from it lol...more like i read it as food for thought for my fasination into the spirit realm..but ive heard stories of people getting something extremely old from someone else and a spirit follows the object, i thought maybe that could explain...or maybe im just seeing things i dont know! LOL |

I very often wake up with a song in my head - but more often than not it's one that I was listening to the day before and was stuck in my head then. Somehow songs will stay stuck in my head all night while I sleep, and sometimes for days at a time even. I'm guessing that's more of an OCD type behaviour rather than clairaudience. However I have noticed that sometimes a lyric from a song will pop into my head at what seems like very convenient times. Of course I don't really see why that needs to be spiritual at all, it seems like the subconscious bubbling up those thoughts. I find it very suprising that it's uncommon for people to wake to music in their head... I've always thought that was normal for everyone.. Very interesting.

Yeah no kidding By the sounds of it we have a lot in common brain-wise. In the past my thoughts would seriously race unceasingly and I couldn't really stop myself. When I did research into it the best description I could find was this vague term "obsession" which is like obsessive compulsive disorder without the compulsion and just the obsession. It was like my head was a gear that was constantly churning non stop about everything, just taking in the world and crunching over and over and over trying to figure everything out. These days I control it through meditation and "awareness" in general. You might try to practice to relax and focus your attention on one specific thing and notice the details, but keep looking and keep noticing more and more detail in one specific thing. I find this helps me a lot, it seems to get my brain under control. |

For me, the songs I wake up with are not the songs I heard on the radio the day before or even recently. Sometimes it's a song from the 50's. It took my literally years to notice all of this and figure out that the lyrics going on in my head were actually messages. Boy that sounds insane. Radical could have a field day with that one. |

Funny that you mention you're having trouble with astral projection. I still remember doing it without my knowledge as a youngster. These days I can't do it at will, I'm still working toward that aspect (not very diligently, to be honest.) Also consider yourselves lucky that you have clairaudience/clairvoyance. I have absolutely NO confirmation, I get information in the form of clairsentience. I could just be insane for all I know (then again it hasn't been wrong yet...) Absolutely no validation as to where the information comes from. It can be frustrating. Hmm... maybe I have seen things and they just don't strike me as abnormal because I see them everywhere? Eh? Probably reaching for it now, hehehe. |

Once while I was dreaming, in the dream, a background of 2 choirs were singing, at the same time. One was singing "When Irish Eyes are smiling", and the other was singing another Irish song, I think called "Believe me". I know the melody, and words to this song, but have never been sure of the title, but anyway, these back ground choirs really had absolutley nothing to do with the dream that was going on, and eventually (in a lucid dream )phase, I directed my attention to the singing, and woke up feeling all beautiful inside, calm and relaxed. My son has this type of thing that occurrs all the time. He hears the songs on the radio when the radio is turned off. He'll suddenly get excited, turn on the radio, and turn the dial, or push the buttons, and there, he'll find one of his favorite songs playing. I do this too, as well as my daughters, but bot nearly as often as my son. He doesn't even seem to notice, that that's an unusual thing. He's done it all his life, and hasn't realized that not everyone does this same thing. Once I was hearing a song play in my head, unusually well, (Dolly Partons, I Will Always Love You.) and I just decided to relax and hear it. I sat there for awhile with my daughter, neither of us saying anything, when suddenly my daughter says, "I've always liked that song". I slowly looked over at her and said, What song? She responded, Dolly Partons version of "I will always Love You". WOW! Neither of us had been talking, much less talking about music, songs, or Dolly Parton. We were both. just hearing it, with no radio playing. |

That's a great story Dorothy. I have similar things happen with me and my kids. The other day while driving the kids to school I was thinking that it was time for another grocery shop and suddenly Emily piped up and said, "Oh! I wanna go shopping too!" I'm like, "Er, huh?" She totally read my mind and responded appropriately. Weird. |

I've had many of those mind reading things happen between me and my kids too. Mostly when they were young though. Seems like people lose that ability when they're older, or maybe we're just not as tuned in to each others thoughts like we used to be.

I usually pick songs because I like to see if the song is exactly the same as the song I remember. I like to see if the song is being played from my memory, or from somewhere else. I've caught very small discrepencies, where I know a song is played a certain way, but I hear it a different way. This makes me wonder if the song is playing from memory or not? I'll also be going about my daily life, and a song will pop into my head, that when I look up the lyrics it has a very clear message. That's fun too. Plus I hear voice in my head ;-P. ~Sean
