I am curious if anyone has an animal as a spirit guide? I believe mine is a hawk. Every time I meditate and connect with my spirit guide I see a hawk flying. When I ask if the hawk is my spirit guide I get a yes response. Is this normal? I am knew to all this, so I am having a hard time trusting myself and the answers I receive. Can you have an animal as a spirit guide? Would my spirit guide choose this form to come to me? If anyone has any knowledge or experience with this please share! Thank you!

It's very common with American Indians to have animal spirit guides. I do think they are as valid as having a "human" looking spirit guide. Here's a nice article on it:

I was told by a shaman that my animal guide is the red-tailed hawk.

Thank you for the links, they are very interesting. I wonder if I have an animal spirit guide because of my heritage. I do have Native American Indian on both sides of my family. Once while meditating I had a vision of a very old Indian, but that only happened once. Now all I get is a hawk. I wonder if they are the same? Do spirit guides always present themselves in the same form?
