I have recently come to an understanding about why bad things happen and I wanted to share it with you all. I believe that our purpose for returning to Earth is to learn lessons. Some of those lessons involve handling feelings such as envy, anger, or even happiness and contentment. I believe that we choose the major events in our life prior to incarnating. This includes the good and the bad. A person could choose to have cancer because it will allow them the lesson of accepting other's help. A person may even choose to experience the death of their baby in order to learn about love, bonds, and grief. I also believe that everyone is sent to Earth in order to experience both the positive as well as the negative. It terrifies me to think of it this way - but I believe that we have all done horrible things in our past lives and that karma balances us out. For example, let's pretend in a past life that you murdered your best friend in a fit of rage. In this lifetime your friend may be your Mother and your job is to love and care for her as her health declines. In some instances I believe that we choose specific people to harm us and that those individuals agree to it, even if they completely love us and would never want to harm us. In this instance they are doing so because we are asking them to and because it will further our life development. My takeaway is that bad things are actually good things because they help our soul to grow. I also believe that the perpetrators of bad things are actually loving souls who have agreed to our request that they harm us. I hope I have made sense in this post. I'm not sure I did a great job of articulating myself. Coming to grips with this has been life changing for me. I am now OK with the people who have hurt me. I see their actions, on a soul level, to be loving and caring and I recognize that I am maybe even the one that asked for the bad things to happen. |

Sometimes when I am in the throes of a so called bad experience I will consciously look at what is there without the minds interaction and what I find every time is just pure energy / emotion unlabelled. I have a between lives recollection...more a thought that goes along the lines of ' I had better jump back in there, it'll probably get messy, but what the heck it's a mere moment in time ' | |

Sandstone - I believe we've had this conversation before, so what I'm saying isn't anything new, but what if we're not here to learn lessons? What if we're here to witness, experience, and respond to life from ever increasing levels of consciousness and love? You're right - we all have played every kind of role and done all kinds of things in our other lives - perpetrator, victim, hero. I'm in agreement that we choose certain events prior to incarnating, but what if we don't really have to experience suffering? What if suffering is just us not understanding how life really works, who we really are, how powerful we all are in creating our lives? If we want to experience suffering we're free to do that, but what if we want to have a conscious, effortless life? There is a way of being where we keep riding successive waves of greater awareness and understanding - we don't have to fall back down. We do make agreements with other people before incarnating, but what if our response to whatever life is bringing is more important than our circumstances, so that we change life with our consciousness (i.e. Instead of struggling against someone, we choose to see what we are judging in them as what we are not acknowledging in ourselves)? I feel that it's wonderful that you've come to a place where you can release the past feelings towards people that have hurt you. I'm a big fan of using everything in life to become more conscious and loving. Thanks for sharing! |
