Default has anyone been successful in silencing their inner mind chatter?

Hey,
I woke up today and my first thought was to silence my constant mind chatter that goes on all day and all night. I know a lot of the chatter isn't to my benefit, and I'm experimenting with silencing it today and it's really hard because I've made it such a habit. Has anyone had success clearing their mind and how has it benefited you? Thank you

I meditate a lot and you have to clear your mind of all thoughts to meditate completely it was hard at first but with practice it is now easy since doing meditating i feel calmer, have a lot more patience and my concentration has improved.

Hi, I had this problem for a long time
I do a kind of awake meditation cos I tend to go to sleep when I try to meditate with my eyes closed
This may sound odd but I go outside take a deep breath and tell myself to only hear the birds or only hear the wind or just concerntrate on one thing whatever you choose and if the thoughts creep in push them aside and go back to focussing on one thing.
While I garden I listen to the birds and have no mind chatter at all now.
It takes practice but I feel calmer and more focused without all the stuff going on in my head.
Hope this helps

I tend to put soothing non-annoying music in my head to make it all there is i hear. Then imagine a volume button, turning it down until it mutes. Hope it works for you, too. ^_^

I started doing moving meditations about 7 years ago, and they changed my life. Whenever you can, take a walk, as long a walk as you can, and clear your mind and regulate your breathing to your steps.

I have no chatter most of the time. I used the observe your thoughts method.

It provides clarity, peacefulness, lower stress, faster thinking, less emotional volatility, better sleep.

Clearing the mind is an act of "will", if you don't have much success at first just hang in there, you'll get it eventually. I can will my mind to slow down and even stop now, but it took me a little practice it get it right. I've noticed I can sense things intuitively much better with a quiet mind. Also, "hearing" my guides and angels is easer, plus if I make intent statements to help bring me my goals, these intent statements work better with a quiet mind.

I think silencing the mind is a really big thing, that everybody should work on, no matter how hard it may seem, it's really a huge benefit when you get half-way decent at it.

Also, today I did something with my chattering mind, which I thought I would share, I picked this technique up a while back and like the way it pans out for me. When my mind chatters endlessly with a song, or other worries, I've noticed if I interrupt it with positive statements, that I repeat over and over, the chatter eventually gets replaced by the positive statements. So it's like you switch over from a non-productive chattering mind to a more productive one that could bring you great benefits, so if you want to chatter about something choose positive affirmations, you'll get more out of it.

Yes, do this while walking and meditating, too.
