2 beings 1 body looking for some opinions

Hi firstly I'll say that I've never personally experienced anything i could consider paranormal, i do however see synchronicities and meanings in life.

What I'm here for now is because i have a friend who tells me he has what he calls a second ego, he told me it happened when he was younger and that he didn't really know what it was then. But now he recognizes it as another being living within him. But unfortunately it appears to be a 'darker' being one who has a very ulterior motive than that of his own.
He has made past attempts at ending his life and while he was younger he trained himself in energy manipulation although to what effect i'm not sure.

I have a different perspective to him as i try to relate his experience to my own reality. I firmly believe everything in my life is of my own creation and there is a responsibility in that. I care about him and i also do not believe it's a condition or 'schizophrenia' but i also have no experience in that area either.

It appears to affect his life in respect to the actions he takes, he has told me sometimes he can't refuse to do what it desires.

I'm not here looking for a cure or fix but rather some alternate opinions or shared experiences that might be similar or relevant to what i described, although i am sorry for its vagueness it's not easy defining someone else's experience let alone communicating them from one person to another especially with my memory of what's been said to me, but i thank you for any replies.

Wow ...this hits right on with what is called an "entity attachment".
