Default Making smudge sticks

Does anyone here make smudge sticks??

I'm going to use white sage or white sage and cedarwood.
What is the best type of string to use? what burns best? The websites I 've looked at dont specify what sort of string to use. I am making them for me and a friend who wants to sell some on her stall so I want to make them with the best ingredients and quality.

I found this link for you, in this one the lady says she uses embroidery floss.

All natural cotton string also sounds like it would work as well. You would want it to be about the gauge of the embroidery floss.

I found that thin hessian string works best, it burns easily. Have never tried cotton string, but I imagine that it may be a OK if it's not thickly woven. Anything thin, made with natural material should do though!

Thanks for your choice of hessian string. I am going to try a few different types and also binding the sticks with green herb and some with dry because I imagine that binding the sticks and leaves green will make the string loose as they dry out.

Cool site but I am in Tasmania and here there are very few people who make smudge sticks. We don't have a large new age population

It will be 6-12 months before I can use them as I only just planted the sage.
They were hard to get in Tasmaina but I tracked down one seller in the north of the state
But yes I will post some pics when they are ready.

Hope they don't smell too much like marijuana when lit otherwise my kids might get the wrong idea about their mum

Big Hugs back to you
