I started this thread in response to other threads. I dont see him as any kind of threat and have no hate for him. I dont know if the Randy foundation has the $1 mil. The A.B.C. story said he did. One thing is certen , if some one wants to prove psychic prowers or the occult , it will haft on there terms and not James Randi's or his foundation's . desert rat

I don't understand why anyone would take Randi's skepticism as some sort of personal insult or affront (unless, of course, he is directly criticizing them). The man is a rational materialist and a hardcore skeptic, and believes he is performing a public service by debunking "psychic frauds". Let him have his own opinions, and if you feel the need to convince other people of the existence of psychic phenomena, then go ahead and do it in your own way, but don't hate on him simply because he thinks this stuff is all BS. How is messing with Randi for being a skeptic any different than a religious fundamentalist messing with YOU for being an "evil proponent of demonic New Age witchcraft"? Treating Randi's opinions and criticism as some sort of threat smacks of insecurity and lack of faith in your own beliefs. |

James Randi has asked for proof of psychic and occult powers and ablitites. Lets say he is going to make a live speech , and some one puts into his mind to babble incoherently that some people do have the power to make him babble. Is this not what he is asking for ? I see this as giving him the proof he is asking for. desert rat

I wouldn't expose yourselves too far into phenomina and abilities if you go through with this....it could make headlines, then the government could search you out and arrest you, or at least make you a "psychic warrior" I know i am not afraid, because i don't have any abilities as most of you do... even though i hate not having them.  Worst i could do is send over a demon or two after Randy. But i know what might happen to me....worse than my marks that is for sure.

Mr Randi just needs something good to happen to him, like a great OBE or something. I used to be hard core skeptic, totally. but after my first OBE oh wow! everything changed that very night. Let's all wish he will have a happy experience of transcendence  |

No, he'd just believe it was a stroke or a seizure or an allergic reaction to something he ate. Any experience will be interpreted through the lens of rational materialism. There's no way to force the man to believe. Quote:

The only way Randi can be defeated is by changing his rules. That's not going to happen. Why would he allow such a thing? They're written to allow him to be the judge of things. He has made a name for himself and a reputation as the great debunker. Changing the rules will cause him to lose this, as well as current and future money.

Why is this relevant? There have in fact been actual scientific studies that have showed positive results. J.B. Rhine did experiments back in the early 20th century that have been ruled out by chance. Read a book called Entangled Minds by Dean Radin. I'm finding it fascinating.
