I am north east of Edmonton Alberta.Very long cold winters. Our snow JUST melted and we have just started to get some warmer days. The hay is a grass mix with a small amount of alfalfa.I give a small scoop or senior horse mana 2x a day with 1/2 cup of equine minerals. She was not abused or really starved,it was just she was not pampered as a horse her age needs over such a long/cold winter. The supplement I have I think is called equaflex,it's out in the tack shed so I will check tomorrow. I just posted pictures of all 3 of my horses if you want to have a look. |

Your horses are so beautiful! They have such a kind caretaker! =) I actually feel like tearing up right now when I saw the pictures. I felt that they were happy at the time, though the one horse that is grayish with the lung infection... I kinda feel a bit off with it, but I still sense it was happy. The pictures take snapshots of the energy at the time, so someone can read the picture and tell you how the horses were like at that very moment. You are such an amazing, kind person. =) |

Oh, and I am with you on the liking animals better than humans.Where I live, people are so cruel to animals. No one cares what happens to their neighbors and they gossip non stop. It's nice to work with animals. They don't care if you look like crap, or if you had a shower. They listen to what you have to say patiently and are grateful for what you give them.My horses start calling me as soon as they hear movement in the house in the morning. It can't get better than that |

She may just have a little colic if you've changed her feed from what she was being fed before. My vet told me to always slowly change their diet over the course of two weeks to what I want to feed them so their tummies can handle it. Around here we have mostly coastal grass hay which they eat all day long, but I've heard that alphalpha can be more binding than coastal or grass mixes without alphalpha. I'm not absolutely sure about that though. Her diet sounds great, actually! I let mine free feed on hay, also...of course they're fat as PIGS! lol. I don't give mine mineral scoops, but they don't have special needs. I just keep a mineral salt block out for them to lick on. As for the weather, it's really hot here so I was going to say if it's hot there it may help her stomach to eat early in the mornings and later in the evening when it's cool. But it doesn't sound like you have that problem!

Veloci, that is Blue. I rescued him.He was near dead. He was whipped and beaten, starved and neglected. He spoke to me and got into my heart. The lady that did the last clearing here said he was with me in another life.He was so broken mentally and so afraid. He trusted me and chose me to help him. As for you feeling something from him.today I got a sharp pain in my left wrist and then his name Blue. I went and checked his left leg and it looks like he too might have arthritis starting. All 3 are gaited. This means they move their legs/feet differently and are a much smoother ride than say a quarter horse. If you go to you tube and type in Paso Fino you will see.Ours are no show horses, just pets so they don;t do the exaggerated movements as in some of those on you tube. Look for trail riding or pleasure riding to get the more natural movement. The black mare is a Tennessee Walking horse. They are gaited too but move differently again |

OMG! lol. The horses KNOW when you wake up, especially if it's breakfast time. I swear all my animals know when my alarm clock goes off. I'll open my back door and there is a goat, two dogs, three cats all standing there waiting for me. lol. It's a circus here. When I walk to the mailbox they all follow me and people honk at us...the crazy people with the petting zoo. It's nice to have something that will love you just cause they love you and for no other reason. lol. Although, I think my goat prefers when I haven't had a shower...she follows me around licking my calves. LOL!

I will go have a look if my internet stays on When we picked her up, she was on pasture. We don't have green grass yet, just last years cover. We all feed Alfalfa here as that is what most make. Our winters are long and cold and the alfalfa help keep them heated. It is just a little in our bales though as they are just for horses. |

Oh. I love my animals for sure.We have had a few dogs shot and some stolen too.It is sad.Your right, they shoot them just for the heck of it! I love goats.I sold my goats and sheep last fall. We had some bad stuff going on around here and we were having animals just die for no reason. It broke my heart so I let them go. |

| Yes! Well, he's half great dane and half german shepherd. He's my little parvo survivor. Actually, both of them are. Duckie, the little spotted one, was at the vet as a stray when I had to take Dax in. I don't know what Duckie is. I know he's got Catahoula in him and maybe some Beagle?? I dunno!!!
