Default The power of Affirmation for spiritual development

These articles are from Robert Bruce. I'm trying out what he's said and im doing well, but it takes a lot of cimmittment for constant affirmation. Here are the links to a few really great articles by him.

The Great Shortcut | CONVERSATIONS WITH A MYSTIC

The Great Secret | CONVERSATIONS WITH A MYSTIC

Allowing Psychic Abilities | CONVERSATIONS WITH A MYSTIC

I like how I was doubting a little bit of this spiritual side and I receive "affirmation" for spiritual development. Thank you for restoring my spiritual side again. I had to rationalize my fears regarding spiritual development (if it was real) which says it is. Then here this thread came. Haha

Now, I read that Robert tells us to spend time everyday saying "I project out of my body and remember everything." How often should I be saying everyday? I guess I'll spend as much time as I can and see what results.

Would rep , but I've to spread a bit of love around first

Affirmations are in my opinion a tool to bring things up in your reality in order to belief better in them.

Beliefs ==> Perception ==> Interpretation ==> Emotional reaction ==> Thoughts ==> Action

Believing is seeing I agree!

Hey Veloci

You should customise the affirmations to your life. If you're in to Astral Projection, i suggest reading his book astral dynamics and then saying the affirmations for projecting out of body.

Be certain of what you're asking. His affirmations are only suggestions.

So if I wanted to affirm that I want to have a deeper relationship with my spirit guides, guardian angels, and higher self my affirmation should be something along the line of:

"I want to have a deeper relationship with my spirit guides, guardian angels, and higher self."

Would that be an affirmation?

In the book Mastering Astral Projection he gives you a morning affirmation and a nightly affirmation and tells you to repeat them roughly 30 times each if possible.

Wait I thought this affirmation was for in general. I did not realize it was for Astral Projection (or only AP at that). I have no desire to do that just yet. I haven't been able to talk to my guides or angels at all, so I worry for my safety on that plane.

Anyway, Robert also says '“if you believe in a thing as if it were already so, then so it will be”.' This just hit me: Why don't I fake that I have a great relationship with my guides, angels, and high self? Eventually I'll make it.

I'm really getting into affirmations lately and I've noticed a big difference already so this is just some additional confirmation that I'm on the right track! I do "love" affirmations where I just love all of the positive aspects of things, including myself, even if they're only barely there. When I give them love though it's like they start expanding and growing.

Even with affirmations like improving energy work I like to throw in a "I love to do energy work..." "I love it when my energy body is stimulated." It feels much better than just saying "My energy body is expanding." or some neutral statement because I'm feeding it love.

Affirmations are for anything. You mentioned an astral projection affirmation though. I thought that's what you were interested in. My mistake.

Oh I apologize for that. Thank you for giving me more clarity regarding affirmations!

I talk to my guides, angels, and high self and "know" or understand what they say to me.

From
Articles - Why Affirmations Don't Work
"People who do affirmations are wasting their time because they are actually setting up internal conflicts that cause them to activate the opposite of what they want!
When people look into the mirror and say, 'In every day and in every way, I am getting better and better,' a part of their mind comes back and says, 'bull!'

Or maybe more credible:
Why positive affirmations don’t work Ray Williams
"Canadian researcher, Dr. Joanne Wood at the University of Waterloo and her colleagues at the University of New Brunswick who have recently published their research in the Journal of Psychological Science, concluded that 'repeating positive self-statements may benefit certain people, such as individuals with high self-esteem, but backfire for the very people who need them the most.'"

Yes. The affirmation make you face the internal conflict. Thats half the battle.

You have to keep on doing them until you beleive them. The resistance lifts eventually.

Believe and it will be so is the core of all magickal systems. ITs the core of anything really.

The quote says that affirmations cause internal conflicts. Why would one cause conflict to then face it?
Well, that's a good question for another thread. People certainly do that.

Sounds like a recipe for repression or delusion.

That's just silly.
"I believe I am a pro basketball player," said the dwarf.

The first article went on to talk about the power of asking yourself questions.
That has worked for me.
Using affirmations was an exercise in fooling myself.

That's how affirmations work. It brings to your awareness the block that already exists in your mind. If you can let it come up without feeding it negative energy it starts to fade of its own and is replaced with the affirmation.

It's valid though that people with low self esteem are most likely not going to get much value from positive affirmations. The blocks are already really strong in them and when they bring them to the surface it's going to be very uncomfortable. Most people in that situation won't help but resist and suppress what comes up because it's so negative. Of course, what else is going to help people with low self esteem? They probably need an external person like a coach to feed them positive energy and focus because they are in a negative loop.

Sorry Sorter, I just read that article and it's really great! I actually realize I ask deliberate questions for other people. I ask people things like "Anything going well for you right now?" and other things that focuses them on the positive. I also don't typically do affirmations that "I am a millionaire." or something. I'm merely focusing on the actual wealth that already exists because that focuses me on it, which lines me up to create more.

In the case of something I haven't really achieved yet I'll even say something in the vein of "I love the idea of being a millionaire." That also pulls me in that direction without conflict. It's the same with visualization.

I'll experiment with those types of questions though Sorter. It looks pretty powerful as well.

So affirmations work for people who don't need them?

I understand that but I doubt most people know to do that.
They think the affirmation will make the "negative" thought go away and get
frustrated when it just gets worse.

Yes, if you use the affirmation to work on a block that can work eventually but compare:
"I am going to have a great time at the party tonight."
with
"How can I have a great time at the party tonight?"

The affirmation is static and doesn't necessarily activate any mental or emotional processes.
The question will definitely activate most if not all faculties of the psyche.
Even if you don't get answers the subconscious will continue looking.
It will try to connect your thoughts and feelings with your goal.
That alone can feel great.

People without blocks still need to focus and create the life they want. I guess you could say it's true that it won't work for the people who need them the most, but like I said, what will? I would say most things don't work well for people with low vibration/energy/esteem.

I think using questions would work.
Questions activate many aspects of mind and can bring ones full capabilities to any goal.
That works wonders for high self esteem.

You may be right Sorter. I remember when I had much lower self esteem I would force myself to do really painful things like listen to Enya and read positive books and do positive affirmations. Now I love that stuff, but back then... yuck. Affirmations were the worst of the worst LOL. "I am positive and happy and people like me." There is nothing more embarrassing than saying the phrase "people like me." I stopped all affirmations very quickly.

From the first article - "how soon will I begin to realize how wonderful I am?"

This is an affirmation. Just in a question. What are you affirming here, that your wonderful, you just didnt know it.

"gee, how come I am so stupid?"

This is an affirmation. Just in a question. What are you affirming here, that your stupid.

"Whatever it might be, when you say "how come I'm like this?", your brain will answer and it will come up with a reason no matter how logical or illogical it is. The number one thing in our culture, bar none is that when someone in our culture says "why" someone says "because".

These are beleifs.

"I wonder how soon before this begins to make sense? I wonder how quickly before I am going to be delighted in discovering what is new about this? I wonder how soon before I delight and amaze myself?"

These are affirmations in questions. Your affirming something, that you'll come to a realisation. There just in question format, instead of statement format.

They do do a much better job, however.

I'm not sure what your point is.
Affirmations usually affirm a static belief or idea.
Questions usually involve doubt or a search for something.
Affirmations and questions are very different mental processes and have
very different results.

I like the article but I didn't say I completely agree with it.
The example questions aren't very good IMO.

"I INTEND to have a deeper relationship with my spirit guides, guardian angels, and Higher-Self!

I KNOW my guides and angels are with me constantly!

I LOVE relating to my spirit guides, guardian angels, and Higher-Self.

Hi Veloci!

Like Robert said they must be present and active, stating as if they are so right now.

So instead of " I want to have" change it to " I have"

Hi Sorter!

I apologise i haven't read any of the articles you posted. I'm only really interested in how they work, not how they don't and seeing as i have no doubt, i seem to be having great success.

Thanks for your contribution though.

Thanks Jeremy.

I INTEND to have a deeper relationship with my spirit guides, guardian angels, and Higher-Self!

I KNOW my guides and angels are with me constantly!

I LOVE relating to my spirit guides, guardian angels, and Higher-Self.

I HAVE A DEEP RELATIONSHIP WITH MY GUARDIAN ANGELS, SPIRIT GUIDES, AND HIGHER-SELF.

I will repeat these affirmations everyday and do guided meditations as well. I KNOW my relationship with them is deep. I KNOW it is there.
