Hi everyone! I have just joined the site in hope of some answers and suggestions, I really hope someone can help me out. I'm a 16 year old boy and on Friday I experienced sleep paralysis for the first time (well at least I think I did). I woke in the morning to my alarm going off accidentally, it's a school holiday this week so I was planning on sleeping in. I turned off my alarm and then began to drift back to sleep. Around five minutes later my body started to vibrate! It wasn't furious or uncomfortable, it just felt strange. I was unsure as to what was going on so I tried to stand up and walk downstairs to ask my mother. It was at this point I found I couldn't move. No matter how hard I tried. Once I regained full control of my body I carried out an internet search and found out it was pretty common and called sleep paralysis. So with informing myself on the subject and learning a little bit about astral projection. I decided to try it again. I was able to get to the state of sleep paralysis rather easily and pretty fast again. I think it was because I was still pretty tired but once I was at this sate I couldn't go any further. I tried floating above my body, swinging out, everything I could think of. I then tried to repeat the process on Saturday but I couldn't get to that state again so I just left it for a few days and this morning I tried again. I was successful again, I vibrated etc... But I still couldn't go any further. I gve not experienced any of the hallucinations other people seem to get although today I did feel like I was being touched for the first time, I know it's all in my mind though so it didn't scare me. I just want to know what the problem is? What is holding me back? *Sorr for any spelling/grammar mistakes I wrote this on my phone. |

I've been experiencing sleep paralysis for a few years now (I'm 17), and I too have yet to astral project. Whenever I step out of my body the awareness decreases and it becomes just another lucid dream. It never feels real and I'm never witnessing actual reality. Plus, whenever I fall into sleep paralysis, it's usually at night at like 2 in the morning and I immediately feel uncomfortable and try to pull myself out, which is sometimes hard. =\ Keep trying. You'll get it eventually. |

Another method of approach is to just relax for a while and not to endeavor. Take a week or two off. Along with that study your consciousness when you go to sleep and when you are awaking. Relax your mind and just be an observer until you are totally zonked out before sleeping and when you arise, do so gradually noting how your consciousness changes and increases. Astral projection is going on all the time, which is to say that it happens whenever the physical body sleep but you are not aware of that separation of the astral body. So really you are trying to become aware of that natural process. Just as when there is an anesthesia application, someone goes completely blank, the same kind of thing happens before sleep, so if you can beat the system and observe how the system shifts from waking physical to sleeping physical, you will become more perception of the astral projections which are already taking place. |

Sleep paralysis, if you want out just take 3 very extremely deep breaths. That's what I've heard. I can't imagine why anyone would want to get out of it though. Here I am busting my arse to get sleep paralysis, so I can obe, and I've only experienced it twice, and only on my arm for some odd reason. You'll definitely know when you have it though. It takes a lot of relaxing if you're conscious. |

If you are trying to have an OBE, once you start to experience the sleep paralysis, RELAX and imagine your body floating away from your body, like levitation. That is what usually works for me. GL.

Repeat this statement before each of your OBE sessions, keep saying it each day, or whever you practice. You might not see something happen on the first try or the second try, but eventually you'll feel or maybe even see a "being of Light" helping you. This could also manifest as invisible help too, where you just start to get better at it, even if you don't know why. This would work for anybody, by the way... I hope more people interested in OBE's on this board give it a try, these angels could become your life-long OBE teachers and you'll have amazing experiences! Good luck! | |
