Is this normal? Is it just because intuitive readings require a lot of mental work, or does this mean I'm doing it wrong and/or my spiritual energy is being leeched by something (ack)? I ask for protection from my spirit guides, God, Jesus, and the archangel Michael whenever I do intuitive readings and always imagine a beautiful white light filling myself and the room. I also clear my energies before and after, however I seem to still feel drained and tired following the readings until I sleep. Anyone who can help with this is much appreciated! |

It's normal. You will naturally feel drained after heavy spiritual activity, especially if you are not used to the amount of energy passing through you. When you do intuitive readings you drain a lot of energy within you. Sometimes it's good to have a bar of chocolate afterwards to give you more energy again. It's almost like drinking coffee. After the caffeine hit, it stays in your bloodstream and gives you a high. However once the caffeine high is over, you feel an energy low. You have been used to the high and normal just feels really down. You are also using your intuition quite a bit here. The more you practise the longer you can go. Just pace yourself out, and take days off to recover. |

There are several ways to use energies. One is to work as a battery where you use your own energy. You'll feel drained afterwards. The other way is to channel the energy through you so that you don't use your own energy. You feel replenished after. Another way is to simply "be" high vibration energy itself. Also, when reading, you connect yourself to the energy of others. They can drain some of your energy and some of their energy can stay attached to you. |

Well... I've always wanted to know how it felt to be high. When I was getting my wisdom teeth removed, I wanted to be put under by gas so I could experience it. It was legal, but the dentist could not provide me with the option. Now months later... I refuse to take drugs to induce the feeling. XD |

| Guys... seriously being gassed isn't that much fun. It just makes your head go really light. I have it happen to me a couple of times. Quote:

| lol, I can't be curious about altered mind states? Sometimes you wonder how something feels but don't want to try it, like veloci said. I'm not going to do cocaine, but a lot of other people have, so why not read their experience of it? |

I had this problem when I first started doing my readings professionally. My guides explained what I was doing wrong, and helped me fix the problem. This is something we cover in my intuitive training program, in greater detail than I can explain here, but the gist is you must raise your vibration, go to your sacred work space, get your conduit guide, who will guard your energy, and leave the room when you're done. this will prevent you from feeling drained.

I was given laughing gas when I had my wisdom teeth confiscated. It's supposed to make you relax, but it didn't really. I mean, it made me smile, but I was still anxious about them injecting me with the anesthetic. I was also more talkative after the operation, but any feel-goodness was more physiological than genuine/psychological. I've had a couple experiences of a deep sense of contentment, but the laughing gas experience wasn't one of them. | |

Yep, happens to me ALL of the time! Moreso now that I've been doing at least a couple of readings a day. I just feel so DRAINED and need 10-12 hours of sleep a night to even feel human the next day. Which, lets face it, is hard to come by! I'll do what Erin suggested and hope for the best. |

Hi nietsdoen, You should not feel drained after a reading. I used to feel drained a few years ago when I started doing readings, then I learned some techniques to stop it from happening. One good technique for protecting against feeling drained after a reading is invoking the divine when you 'tune in'. You have to work with the divine (archangels, God, Ascended masters) as well as the astral level beings such as spirit guides and guardian angels. You mentioned you are already doing this. But ideally you would also do some deep breathing after you called on the divine being. I teach people techniques for the deep breathing & spiritual protection in my courses. You could come up with your own if you wanted. Also, psychics often take on astral debris from their clients unless they have techniques to avoid it. Especially if they're empathic. You know you're taking on astral debris from clients when you feel particularly drained after one client but perhaps not so drained after another. It's worth learning about energetic protection so that you can get to the point where you're doing a few readings daily and feeling fine afterwards. I can also recommend a book on spiritual protection if anyone is interested. And I wrote an article about psychic self-protection yesterday, maybe it will be helpful for you: Psychic Self-Protection - What Works & What Doesn't? |
