Unhappy I can't astral project! D:

I've been at it for like 6 months or so now, and try to project whenever I find myself in a lucid dream (much less often as of recently because I started accepting that reality might be far different than the composition in my head so I became more accepting of odditties). I get stuck in a state of vibration, and at one time I started hearing voices (sleep paralysis). The rope method sucks for me, if I don't visualize the rope I feel like I'm not going anywhere, and if I do visualize the rope, the tension sometimes makes me fall backwards.

One time I was really tired and wondered "why am I here" before collapsing and I felt intense vibrations start and pictured my spirit guide right next to me pulling me out, it was very painful though since I was on my side, so I ejected and then tried again on my back with no luck. I can never induce vibrations if I'm not already asleep, do you guys have to get in almost a hypnosis state of trance or something?

I have no idea if I've ever managed to astral project, but the times I think i've succeeded has been by falling asleep with the intention to astral project and so I have just found myself standing in my room. No vibrations or anything ... but then again it could have been only a lucid dream, but honestly ... I doubt there is any difference >.>

I hope someone more experienced can help you.

Have you ever tried to consult someone who has experience in astral projection? Such a person might be able to help you in this regard.

Presently I suggest that you just relax for a few months and then try again. In the meantime you could read up some more, especially about meditation, since through that you can learn how to study your consciousness in more detail.

Take the position of an observer when going to sleep and when awaking, to note what takes place, how your consciousness shifts and assumes different states and how your awareness decreases and increases.

All of that is actually part of the course of astral projection.

With Astral Projection, it's not the conscious mind you have to convince, it's the subconscious mind!
"Shouting" at yourself to project! won't necessarily get through to those undercurrents in the mind. You'll have to go easy a bit, and desire projection, but not try to sledgehammer yourself into it. It's got to get "under your skin" rather than be a product of forcing things.

I've been out of body countless times. However, I could rarely induce a projection at Will! Yet once I found myself in the state when I was hearing whistling/rushing wind sounds, and feeling vibrations up and down my body and in my ears....I could usually focus OK and get out from there.
But exactly how to initiate those conditions.....I don't know! How strange because I've done it so many times.....

Sometimes I couldn't get completely out though, and would be stuck at the neck a bit. I found that if I stopped "trying" at that point, and just went whooosh! right out without thinking about it....all went smoothly. But sometimes that didn't work and I came back to my body.

that.. or the astralers can't be bothered replying...

Try searching astral travel in older posts because this question has been answered like 100 times before.

I think your problem is the technique you are using. I myself have come across a countless number of extremely different techniques, some that worked, some that didn't. You need to find what is right for you. Secondly, did you ever think that maybe you weren't ready to astral yet? Read further into the subject and decide if this is what you really want.

First tip -- re-title your thread to "I astral project! How can I become more conscious?"

When I was first learning to project, I used to repeat all day long "Now I am out of my body, now I am out of my body." It was a tip I read in a book. The other simple technique was to continue that affirmation while imagining every detail in my home and slowly examining it during meditation.

And you should know, after months of practice, my first OBE occured involuntarily. I had been deeply imagining for a poem I was writing, got extremely tired, layed down on a futon, and the moment my head hit the pillow I rose up out of my body. I believe it worked because I trained my subconscious to remind me to project at the opportune moment.

There are many opportune moments. I personally have never projected consciously from a lucid dream. Usually, it follows deep meditation sessions or occurs involuntarily when I apparently have a "need" for it--something to learn or expand upon.

So change your internal narrative and I think you have a much better chance of being successful. If "it sucks" it won't work. And read all the books you can. Prolongued reading is great for programming a trigger in the subconscious. You need to get your subcsonscious working for you. The subconscious believes whatever you tell it. When you posted this, you told it "I can't." Start telling it can; relax; remain calm; forget about time, limitations, dissatisfaction, expectation. When you're ready, you will be ready.
