It is my understanding that dreams are efforts by the subconscious resolve personal conflicts... and those dreams are highly symbolical... so, only a professional (psychiatrist) can truly decipher them and reach a conclusion of to their true meanings... The very best to you... and hope that your nicer dreams will come true... .

I too from time to time have dreams...very specific ..... and a few days later those very events occur. However... in a few situations, I have been able to choose a different course of action and have thus changed the outcome of what was previously foretold in the dream. Many people are more in tune with the environment around them, and thus can pick upon clues and signals and assemble them into logical events. Not necessarily psychic stuff, just a more in depth consciousness of what's around them, though your waking mind may not be aware, your subconscious will be. You subconscious rules your dream world, and so your "premonitions" are able to be processed vividly there. As for what you do about it... well..... you can ignore it. Or you can use it as a guide. Your mind is reading what your surroundings are telling you. You can then use that information to change your current path, and direct your future..... in essence... see what's ahead and make changes as necessary. You can also learn to become more aware of your surroundings. Learn to pay closer attention to the nuances of the world around you..... make your conscious mind "see."

(Clearing my throat.) May I step in for a moment? (looking around, no one to answer me) Okay, I will. Quote:
Oh and please don't take this as me being rude "Shamou". I'm far from it. Welcome aboard. I'm sure you'll like it here. Carlos; you are having premonitions and that is okay. Lots of people have them. Ever had De’ja Vu? Majority of De’ja vu moments come from the fact that we’ve had the dream, forgotten about it and are now reenacting it. Where do I base my information from? Why from the same place I base all of my information from; my own personal experience of course. Every De’Ja Vu moment I’ve ever had I dreamt about prior and I remembered having the dream. I’m one of those who dreams of future events but blows them off mindlessly as my imagination. I also dream of small events surrounding a very large event however my mind does not give me a window into the big event it is foretelling so therefore I’ve blown off multitudes of dreams that included simple things like me cooking dinner in my kitchen and staring at my children playing with purple play-doe knowing something was lost. A month down the road there I am in my kitchen cooking, the kids at the table with the purple doe and I know what I’ve lost….(I won’t in-put the answer here as I like to keep things personal but I will say that the death of a loved one would not describe the emotions attached to all 3 of us that day) In fact, I dreamt of at least 30-40 odd events that surrounded this particular tragedy and re-lived them at least 4-5 times a week for a period of almost 6 months following the event. Obviously I very much believe that you can have premonitions. The main one I regret never mentioning was when I dreamt my father would lose his job of 20+ years. I blew it off as a stupid dream and a month later, I received the saddening phone call. Quote:
My Simple Version; I believe that upon our decision to return to earth (Yes, I believe in reincarnation), a chart is written out. Within this chart, there are multitudes of branches, turns, lefts, rights, you name it. We come to earth with Free-will and lessons that we are intent on learning. With each decision we make, we embark on a new branch of the tree you would say. It’s all written out for us however we still have the ability to make free choices which in turn allows for our lessons. With this being said, I had theorized to myself that the reason I receive these dreams are as forewarns and there may be ways to change the course. If I stay on the course I’m on at the moment I have the dream, the dream will be re-lived by me but if I change my course, somehow, the possibility will then be washed away behind me. Bravo “Help4me”, I’m so impressed that you’ve been able to accomplish this! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Good luck to ya Carlos. Last edited by CFPurpose; 04-10-2007 at 06:40 PM.

CFPurpose.... I am not always able to change things. But one example that I can offer happened a few years ago. I dreamt that my youngest daughter was mauled by a dog, and died. In the dream I was in the car with the driver door open talking to her dad who was on the sidewalk. A stray dog came down the sidewalk and my daughter's dad called it over. I immediately shut the door, while trying to restrain my daughter who was in the passenger seat trying desperately to climb over me and out the window to pet the dog. Then the dog attacked. The rest of the dream is too gruesome to share. Now for real life... about a week later... I was in the house... standing at the front door... with the door open... talking to my daughter's dad who was standing in the front yard. A stray dog came down the side walk. He called it over. My daughter, who was in the house playing saw it and tried to run past me... out the door to pet the dog. I slammed the front door shut before my daughter could get out, screamed to her dad to make the dog go away. I had told him about the dream. In a panic I reminded him of the dream, and begged him to make the dog go away. Which he did. I realize that the details are not exact. And in this way it is not precisely a premonition... however.. the events were close enough for me. Had I not had the dream... perhaps I would have let my daughter go to her dad to pet the dog since he was right there petting it himself. What would the outcome have been then? Sorry to hijack your thread Carlos. I just wanted to show an example of how you can use premonitions to change your course. |

I'm so very glad to hear that you were able to protect your daughter. Whether or not that dog would have attacked is left for wonder but I'm sure you just as much as I would much wrather wonder than ever find out! Your story reminded me of something I had forgot about. My mother has actually told me about the time she too felt like she was able to change future events due to the premonition she had of her and my father driving up a winding road in the mountains. My youngest sister was in the back-seat and oddly enough so were my other sister and I. (which is odd seing as we've been out of the home for multiple years now). Anyway, while driving, my father hit a steep curve and overcompensated sending the car and all 5 passengers plummetting over the edge. My mother said it was extremely real and all she could do was yell and reach over for my father. Fastforward 3-4 months later; My mother, father and youngest sister are planning on a trip to Colorodo. Before final plans are made, my sister stays behind and off my parents go for a nice get-away. There they are, my mom and my dad in the drivers seat stearing up a winding road on a mountain side, the dream never crosses my mothers mind until she see's a significant land mark (a Large Odd Stone I think it was) that jolted her memory. She immediately told my father to slow down and then got so nervous, she made him pull over on the next available stop and turn the car around. My dad didn't test her this time as he wasn't to eager to find out if her dream was a premonition either. They camped at another camp site that night.

Hello, my name is Melinda and I enjoy reading all of your posts. I find it fasinating that people and animals have the ability to for see the future. Reading all of your experiences lets me compare them to mine, and opens (I just had deja vu) my eyes to even more greater knowledge. Thank You, all of You. Example: Experience of my own. I just started writing down my dreams this morning (April 13,2007). It was interesting to find out that I had 8 dreams. I wrote down all of my dreams, still fresh in my head. I looked them over and started trying to figure out what they meant, if anything, and how long they actually were (How long are dreams usually?). I had one dream about my friend X. In this dream X was mad, angry, and upset about being locked out of something or someplace. I wasn't totally sure why X was mad, but I remember X throwing something. Today at school I asked my friend X if they were mad last night, or slammed something down. X looked at me for a moment and said "No, not that I remember." In return I said "Oh, alright." X asked me about my curiosity so I decided to tell X about my dream. As I was explaining what happen, in specific detail, X said "Oh wait! I was pissed off last night. At about 11:45pm I was mad because my dad was in the shower and had locked the door. It pissed me off because I needed to use the bathroom, so I went to my room and started hitting my leg." At that moment I realized what I had dreamt did come true, in a way. I realize it now why X didn't tell me about the incident when I first asked them. X and I were both amazed by my dream. I'm not sure what you can consider it, but it makes me wonder. I feel asleep at 11:15pm (around that time) and my friend got mad at 11:45pm (around that time), how did I recieve X's anger? |

Do you have an analytical mind and often think "What happens after X" and come up with many possible and plausible answers? Some people while sleeping, or even thinking come up with many events purely from imagination. Some strange and unusual and specific, others bland or generic events. Do these dreams happen on the verge of conciousness either when you are about to go to sleep or during the process of waking up? You subconious can possibly have pieced together information you have seen but not registered in your waking mind, so you are not alotogether surprised when the event happens. Creating a false sense of having a "premonition". Like the others in this post i too have had some strange "premonition(s)" Unfortunately i have a rather insane mind and constantly find myself sinking into spirals of "what if ,then what, how does that happen?" and every now and then something i thought of actually comes to pass. I dont think i had a premonition however, i think of the thousands of possible scenarios i think of (all possible in thier own way given the circumstances i built them on had happened) some of them are bound to occur. As far as i am aware the subconcious does to some extent what i do conciously, (dont mean that to sound ignorant or idiotic, im sure some will percice it as the former or latter) it takes information you have, and runs some variations of the event with mutations and changes made to the information. Would you believe that while i have typed this i have imagined 4 different people with distinct personalities reading this? This disclaimer is a bit late isnt it? I am not a psychiatrist I am not any kind of doctor I am not over 20 I am not sane |
