Mean Or Malevolent Guides? Is There Such A Thing?

Is it possible to have guides that are mean? Misleading? Malevolent? Does this every happen?

I don't think your guides are like that...but I do think there are mischievious entities floating around that might amuse themselves with people at times, and pose as guides. I can't prove it though.

Maybe 12-13 years ago I was on quest to find some guide in astral world... But in the end I was so frustrated that I couldn't find any, that I stopped. My problem is that I can't go to astral at will, and as such it is not possible for me to explore things I would like to see, to know... and I hoped that guide would help me with his suggestions ... to be more conscious...

Astral world, or world where I usually project, is very similar to my real life surrounding... but for one thing: there is problem to find somebody. It is usually barren of humans, even animals... only flora remains, or non living things like houses... Occasionally I find some people but they acting strange, often like they are not aware of me...

Starting to try suggestions from here about connecting with guides. Though I wouldn't think there are evil guides, it occurred to me I don't actually know. Or maybe some guides are harsh, like a military sergeant.

Guides, I don't feel so.

However, there can be entities who make out they are guides who can be mischievous and nasty.

I still remember calling for my guide in a lucid dream (not so great awareness at the time), and then this dog came in. Before it sat there shaking its head and such to my questions, it kept trying to bite my hands. Sure enough, it hurt, but it probably weren't being mean, probably just being a dog...

Still, I remember waking and wondering why it would want to inflict any kind of pain.

What I have found in my experience is that spirit guides are loving, uplifting, encouraging, and non-judgmental. They sure have distinct, different personalities, so some feel colder and stricter and others more loving, cheerful and even funny. But they all are friendly and will never judge or criticize you or make you feel bad.

There are, however, entities that hide behind a positive façade and pretend to be helpful, even though they are very much aligned with negative energies. It can happen that our higher self mistakes them for positive guides and accepts them in its spirit guide team. That is very unfortunate since our guides have permanent access to us and influence us a great deal.

I find this case from time to time in my practice and clear these negative guides away. I don't know if they are intentionally malevolent or just very negative themselves. But either way they are a highly disruptive and misleading influence.

I have done my best to live nonego for many years, but I am rather fear-based at least part of the time. That would explain a lot. I haven't learned to connect directly with guides so far, so I wonder...

Wow! I have just had an experience while trying to astral project where I was asking to meet my guides...any of them...just meet SOMEONE that was my guide. The first entity I met was a red man who picked me up by the shoulders and very loudly spoke directly into my face in another language. He was telling me he was my guide and giving me direct orders, but he was frightening. While he was speaking, his eyes turned color and resembled yellowish looking snake eyes or something. Anyway, the next go round was a wonderful man who was angelic and easy to speak to. I told him about the red man, and he told me this was not my guide and I needed to get rid of him and watch out for misleading entities. He said HE was in fact my guide and told me his name, which I cannot remember. After he was gone, I woke up and tried to project again, this time meeting this little bouncy, tricky, bald blue man with horns, a tail, and legs like an animal. He was bouncing around acting goofy, trying to convince me that he was my guide and showing me flyers of entities to watch out for. I found two flyers with his face on them, then when I told him I knew he wasn't my guide, he disappeared.

Now, I think this was more of a lucid dream than astral projection even though I was constantly looking for myself in my bed (this was all in my bedroom, which is where I asked to meet my guides) and I would see myself sleeping there. The voice of the red man was one I recognized hearing years before as I was falling asleep that frightened me so badly I could barely sleep for two days. I think he's been around me for a while or I was facing this terror through my lucid dreams...I'm not sure which one. Anyway, that experience showed me that there are tricky entities or energies that will influence you if aren't careful. Mine we're in semi-human like form so that I would approach them (I believe this is why they looked the way they did), but when I met the man who I know was my actual guide, I knew without a doubt that he was good for me. The other two may have been some sort of negative guides...but I'm not sure if they are the kind of guides I would want to really take seriously.

Anyway, so I agree that there are entities that will try to convince you they are good for you...although they could be your fears personified or other energies presenting themselves to you in some form. I'm not sure, but I really don't think guides will be mean or try to scare you. I'm going to read this article of Erin's to see what her thoughts are on the subject.

I do believe we can be fooled. Some souls are very good at hiding and pretending to be something else.

Another reason for ending up with negative guides is that the persons themselves are deeply stuck in negativity (or were at some point in the past, when that guide got hired). Like attracts like.

From understanding the Monroe Institutes process for projecting, where you create a "resonant energy balloon", wouldn't the balloon keep negative beings or energy away? Are you employing such a protection method?

Since I've not achieved conscious projection so far I haven't encountered any spirit guides, real or impostor. I have gone through long periods of negativity, however. Might having negative guides swapped out cause havoc on one's life even without consciously knowing/seeing/hearing or otherwise interacting with them directly? Are the negative guides able to guide one to bad choices, wrong moves, bad advice, and thus keep them in a negative state?
