I was brought up Christian and I believe in the Holy Trinity, in Creation and I believe we are presently in the end times, as prophesised through both old and new Testaments. I believe in the Angelic realm and that, with Satan, many Angels fell from Heaven and so, we have struggles between the powers of good and evil. I cannot compromise on my faith in God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit who dwells among us. And I believe that the only way to God is through Jesus. That being said, I experience many things which I cannot explain. I have dreams of such a vivid nature, that I do not believe they are dreams, but visitations. I received messages from my grandmother who had passed over, and I feel my mother, who passed over less than a year ago, all around me. I heard her calling me when I was outside 2 weeks ago. As crazy as this makes me sound, I am a fully sane and "normal" person, but I cannot deny what I experience. I hear a key turning in my door often, and I feel this may be my Mum, as it is the door via which she always gained access to my home. When I look, there is never anyone there. I am so very interested in pursuing all this, in an attempt to establish contact with my Mum. My mother was deeply religious and frowned upon psychic contact. What I want to ask is how do I know that this is truly my Mum who I feel and hear and not an angel of darkness masquerading as my Mum or a ploy of the devil? I am reasonably familiar with the Bible, and I know it states clearly not to go down this route, and yet I know that it also speaks of dreams and prophesying in the last days. To be honest, I am very confused. Can anyone help? Thank you |

Hi, you just can assume to have an awareness and everything perceive through it. So the experiences you have are for example: 1. Your nighttime adventures. 2. Your Christian belief. 3. Perceiving the incongruence of those two contents when trying to form a mental structure. If you believe that has to make sense, it can also mean to question your beliefs. Maybe as a Christian you can answer me this question? What would it do to try to broaden you experience range, if your God is forgiving it all and all are equally, no matter what they do? All the best. ~sb |

JTP - I can understand your dilemma. I was raised as a Christian although I'm not anymore, and yet I agree with you that these are the End Times that have been prophesied about in the Old and New Testaments. I don't in any way want to shift you out of your beliefs as a Christian, but I'd like to share my experience with you. My father was in the military, and when I was a young boy and living in England, I started becoming sensitive and intuitive to energies and spirits. We would go visit castles and antique shops, and I would have a variety of experiences that no one else seemed to have or could explain. By the time I was in college I started delving into books, workshops, etc to discover more about my experiences - in essence, to help explain me to myself. I was a straight A student with relationships, extra-curricular activities, all the normal life stuff - not checked out, but very engaged with life. Having psychic experiences can be a distraction on our spiritual path, especially if we over-emphasize their importance, and yet they can be a natural part of life too. We can sometimes tell who is calling on the phone (without caller id), we feel intuitively to go to a certain store and then meet an old friend there, we feel that we should drive on a certain road and discover there was an accident on our usual road, etc. If you look at many people around the world, especially tribal societies that live closer to nature, you will see all kinds of experiences that are socially acceptable. My grandfather was raised as a Christian in the Church of the Brethren, which is pretty conservative and fairly close to being Amish. Yet when he was getting really sick with a variety of things, like diabetes, bronchitis, etc, he would often get hospitalized because he couldn't breathe. A few times he died and was revived again. One time he had what is called an out-of-body experience, or astral projection, which is where our consciousness shifts from our physical form into our astral body, an energetic form. He wanted to tell me about it, because when he told his preacher and wife (my grandmother), they thought it was satanic and that he was crazy, respectively. No support whatsoever. Because of my background, I was actually able to validate his experience. He felt relieved that he wasn't crazy, it wasn't satanic, and that it was simply an experience beyond what he was used to. We actually got closer as a result. He died in 1996 and since then I've been visited by him several times, sometimes in a dream format and sometimes when I've been awake. What is it that you are looking for from your mum? What would you ask her or want to complete with her? Can you ask Jesus/Mary if you are truly connecting with your mom and receive some kind of confirmation? Or even pray to Jesus/Mary to intercede on both of your behalfs, so that you are consistently watched over while you are establishing a connection? I remember Jesus saying "Ask and it will be given", so I feel that if you're clear on your intent, and you ask for support from someone you trust like Jesus, then this will become much simpler. PS - Remember this. There are various Biblical figures that displayed wisdom and powers that were beyond the "normal", accepted range of experiences, and yet were considered sacred, especially because they used their wisdom/power to help others. This includes people like Moses, Solomon, the Prophets, Joseph (the interpreter of dreams for the Pharoah), Jesus, and even the disciples who would heal and prophesy. Since we are all God's children, then maybe you are allowed a connection with your mother and grandmother? |

It seems to me that religious doctrine often forbids or discourages communication with the Spirit World, (which is a natural thing, I believe, for those who are able to sense such things) That is probably "throwing the baby out with the bathwater"....indiscriminate meddling with the Other Worlds can be confusing or even sometimes dangerous for sensitive emotional types, or people who are very insecure or fearful. So maybe that was why such distrust of the Spirit World and otherworld contacts are so feared, despised, or forbidden by religion?? That strikes me as a strange concept -to treat everyone as if they were silly children almost....unable to discern those spirits "to see if they are of God" But for those who are -to strictly forbid a natural talent or ability seems to me to be unwise. My feeling is that either you are so grief stricken, and your psyche is compensating for the loss of loved ones with delusions of one kind or another....or what you are experiencing is Spiritual contact with your loved ones, as simple as that! I cannot see why Jesus would (Himself) be so against that...? In fact I don't think He would be. |

jtp, I'm sorry you were raised to be religious like that. It is typical of the church to persuade against all forms of spiritualism other than "their way", but if you are looking for the hard and honest truth, it is this, christianity and the church don't even scratch the surface when it comes to spiritualism. It is common that they will cry out devil's, demon's and darkness at even the slightest mention of any spiritual practice outside their own. I honestly believe that when you die you will come to the shocking realization that yours, and most of the worlds religions were not entirely TRUE. I am not here to convince you, but i would suggest you be receptive to new ideas (of spiritualism), stop living in fear that you will be condemned, that the church has instilled upon you. There is no wrong in making contact with the spirit world. Don't condemn yourself. If you really really think about it and break down the church teachings, you might be surprised how much negativity and fear the church really creates in people with ideas such as eternal damnation if you don't believe, devil's, demon's, such things don't really exist except in your own conscious, always remember that. Thank you guys for feedback. ChrisL, thank you for such a comprehensive reply and understanding. Your experience is very intriguing, and some of it, I can relate to. With my mother, I don't have any "unfinished business" as such. I was grief stricken of course at the suddeness and due to her young age, and went through the grief as we must do, but very settled in the fact that my Mum was at peace. The sense of her around me, the dreams/visitations have been extremely comforting and have actually brought me closer to God. As you say, there are many instances in the Bible where people practised healing, prophesy, dream interpretation and so on. And then there are parts of the Bible which condemn the very same. It is confusing at times to say the least. And I do think that the Christian Church has veered well away from Bible teaching in some areas. I feel very open to exploring my experiences but as I said in the initial post, I am only too aware of powers of darkness and satanic influences and this concerns me. If I open my mind to my experiences, am I also opening myself to lower spirits? Because I believe we are in the end times, I beleive that satan will be deceiving us like no time before in history, because his time is running out. ChrisL, you make a valid point in suggesting that I ask Jesus for a sign that these experiences are, as I feel them to be, connected to my Mum as opposed to a masquerading angel. And I must add that I have been experiencing things outside the "normal" range all my life, not just following the death of my mother. Warning dreams, premonitions, knowledge that was not my own, visitations - all this has been part of my "normal". It is just now that I am paying such close attention. I will continue to pray for protection and continue to search my mind and explore this. Life is certainly not boring! |

When I first became a professional psychic medium, Steve's parents, who are very Christian, went to their priest to discuss how to deal with me. He told them this: If she believes her gift comes from God and if she uses her gift to help others, then not only should her work be accepted but revered. Jesus himself spoke to the dead and performed many miracles which would be considered supernatural or paranormal. These abilities are a sign that God has chosen her to do his will. You should be proud that your daughter-in-law is so chosen. And just like that they accepted my work. I was grateful. |

Satan is symbolic, not real. You will learn that for yourself when you die. No demons, No devils, No hell, but these things can be real and created by your own conscious in the afterlife, if you choose to see that sort of thing. I believe, only on the lower astral plane though. Here is a good link that touches on the subject of "hell" better than I can explain. Lowest Astral Sub-Plane 7 |

When my brother passed away and began communicating with me telepathically as well as through sending me physical signs, I had a few people (Christians) warn me about the dangers of this type of communication. It was difficult for me to explain to them my experience of the profound heart opening, feelings of love, peace and joy that accompanied these communications. I simply told these people that if it was in fact a 'demon' that was causing such a profound feeling of love, acceptance and joy within me, then perhaps I'd have to re-evaluate my opinion and definition of a devil or demon. In my experience, these communications are always accompanied by certain tell-tale signs. I get tingles from head to toe....my entire chest area feels open, expanded and almost like it could burst with love (for everyone and everything) and I experience an inner sense of peace like nothing I'd ever experienced previously. From what my brother has conveyed to me, my vibration must be of a certain level in order for me to experience direct, telepathic communication with him.....and the tingle/shivers and heart fullness we experience from contact with those in the realm of the afterlife is due to our making contact with them...through them we experience the sky high vibration of that dimension. |

I know that will offend some people... but it's unfortunately the historical truth. The devil... hell.... regularly repent for your sins in church or else you won't go to heaven. Religion should not be about fear... it should be about love. I applaud you for actually coming forward and wanting to find out for yourself against the fears you have been taught in the past. You will find others on here that had the same fears as a result of the religion they were brought up in... like myself. Another thing I can tell you from experience... is that if your grandmother and mother are coming through and I believe they are... quite often if they have been brought up in a religion or were skeptical in life about psychics or life after death.... they will go absolutely try everything possible let you know they are very much around. I am still staggered at how when I do readings it will be often be the skeptic (or the person that passed over who was a hardened skeptic) that will be the one that gets all the messages. I guess it is their way of wanting the person getting the reading to know how wrong they were in their thoughts and belief about life after death. | |
