My first conscious astral projection

I've been trying to astral project for a couple of weeks now, with no luck. I tried all sorts of things, like invoking my guides, lucid dreaming. Until yesterday I got ill and went to sleep.
I have a cold right now and my body is really weak. While sleeping in this state I woke up in my room but it was different. It was like an evil shadow lands version of my room. Now this was scary but nevertheless I was curious. I wanted to really get out into the room but I felt an evil presence which was manifested by a shadow on the wall (later when I woke up the shadow was there, so I really was seeing my room). Then I heard a voice say to me: "You must move into the feeling".
The most intense feeling was in the left side of my body, the side where I felt the evil presence most (it was sort of an electrical tension). So I started to consciously feel that part and it worked, I dived into that place. Unfortunately I don't remember why (probably was too afraid) I just blacked out and woke up.

I read somewhere that you can't really astral project until you're 30 years old or more because earlier your body is too strong. I find this true (I'm 23). Do I need to be sick to astral project?

It's not true that you need to be 30 years old to astral project. That gave me a chuckle, I'm sorry. I was in my late teens when I was galavanting around the astral plane. Now ... who has the time?

Being sick does actually help astral projection but not for the right reasons.

Robert Bruce was 21 when he first learned to astral project consciously (had projections before this age as well). Robert Peterson (Out of Body Experiences: How to Have Them and What To Expect) learned to project at the age of 21. Anne Varnes (Astral Voyage - Astral Projection and Spirituality) began astral projecting in her teens I believe. Also, John Magnus (Astral Projection and the Nature of Reality) learned to project in his early twenties. I could be wrong but older projectors like Robert Monroe for example were more the exception than the rule it seems.

Good job moviestar, sounds pretty cool. Getting results like that after only a couple weeks is pretty impressive. It takes most people much longer.

Dan.Linehan: it's not impressive cause I was ill. You're in a different state when your body is weak. I don't want to astral project that way. I hope I can have success in a normal way.

Btw. when I was a child I would frequently sense a presence around me when I was going to sleep or when I woke up at night. As a naturally curious child I started thinking about it and interpreting that feeling. First I thought it was ghosts or monsters. I was scared of this cause I really thought there was something there, to a point where I didn't move or open my eyes out of fear. Then I became interested in UFOs so naturally that feeling was... aliens! I thought that I can sense aliens that come to me at night and they send me signals through telekinesis. Now I've been interested in astral projections and this experience I described in this post reminded me of this feeling. I could feel that presence again, now I interpret it as my guardian angel or maybe demons.
I know many children are afraid of the dark. But as you see I wasn't ever afraid of one thing, it was a feeling. The fear came from my interpretations. The feeling of presence is still here now, but very rarely. Anyone can relate?

I was very young when I first started getting out of my body. My son was also about 4 when he was traveling with me. I have found that when I am sick I remember my travels better. I think it is because I am in some discomfort and that keeps me from going down too deeply into sleep trance. BlessU Sam

I'm new here & still need to introduce myself formally, but for right now. Yes! I often feel a presence (or something to that effect) near me. I went through the whole alien phase when I was young too, once I started learning about UFOs. I have good reason to believe that was not the case with me though, even though I had an intense fear that it was the case when I was younger, for quite awhile. Even aside from the whole alien thing it's always been a fearful thing for me, feeling this way, but I am really moving out of that fear about this & connecting with guides, angels, & the 'flow of well-being' quite strongly.

So my perception of this presence type sensation is really changing into a much more welcomed & loving experience. Also I have had a few really nice recent experiences of my light attracting earth bound souls who knew I could help them move on. That has been fun actually....this coming from a total scardy cat in general.

Also several years ago, in my early 20's, I suddenly learned about astral projection. I've grown up with a lot of these kinds of concepts so it was very easy to accept & get excited about astral projection. I read this whole book about it, in one day (can't remember the title). And then dicussed it, that same evening with friends who had had experiences, but not really fun ones. So I wasn't really planning on doing it, based on their experiences, but was definately enjoying learning about it.

The very next morning, after really reading about it & discussing it for the first time, I felt some kind of energy at my crown chakra & could really sense a very purple color related to that chakra. I could even see the lotus, in my minds eye, kind of opening, it was very gentle & peaceful. Then this Being/non-physical entity came up the stairs, in my half awake state I thought it was a friend who was sleeping downstairs. This entity started to, like, massage me, but my actual friend had no reason to do something like that. Then I kinda became slightly more conscious & realized the being was non-physical & had hands on the base of my neck & the base of my back & was gently wiggling me out of my body. I got really scared, & was told to "relax & breathe deeply" (by the entity) which I almost started to do. But the fear took over too much & I really started to struggle against the process, also realising that I was paralized. I tried to call for help & move my body, but couldn't. Then I just started to say something in my mind, like, "I'm staying in my body! I'm staying in my body!" I was quite scared, I thought the entity was actually trying to get me out of my body so it could get into my body. But it left & then the paralysis started to fade too.

Tuning into the experience now (several years later with more knowledge, in general, under my belt), I don't think it had evil intent at all. I am glad to have gotten the chance to wait to experience this though! I feel much more confident & protected now. I have not had another experience like that since. Or been interested to. But yesterday my husband read some of Erin's blog to me, including a lot about astral projection, & I read more on her site today. Even though she has some scary stories, I actually feel good about trying to experience this.

All day today I've been asking for a special guide of love & light who is compatible with a certain very strong vortex of protection I have in place, through my work with my healer's here in Colorado, where I live. Not to mention I'll be sure to keep in mind all the techniques of protection & guidance Erin describes too. And I have gotten tons of sign & synchronicities throughout the day today, that this requested guide is with me now...so I'm really excited to see what happens.

I got the chance to astral project, & with help too, so soon after learning about it the first time, all those years ago, even though I didn't take the opportunity....I wonder if I'll get another chance just as fast, now that I am interested again!?

Wow very interesting experience autumn!
It reminded me of a situation I had during my "alien" phase. It was morning and I sort of woke up. Like the state of mind when you become conscious of yourself but really are sleeping. You can wake up fully and get our of bed from that state. Anyways I got in this state in the morning, it was still kind of dark and with my closed eyes I felt a presence. I opened my eyes and there looking at me was an alien! It was the typical gray alien known from X-files, but this one was purple. He was sitting next to me, his face close to mine. This whole sight took about 0.01 seconds because I immediately became unconscious after seeing it. I blacked out. The next thing I remember was someone/something hitting me hard in my belly! I was lying on my back and it felt like someone punched me in the stomach. That woke me up completely I opened my eyes and thought WTF!?
I didn't really believe at that time it was an alien. I convinced myself it was some sort of trick of the mind. The thing that scared me is that my dream encounters can have physical manifestation. I can get hurt! I think that is what frightens me most about astral projection.

Wow that is intense. I do believe in aliens, and even though I saw one in my closet one time, I don't think I ever had or would want to have a direct experience with one. Not one of those anyway! Maybe the *higher* consciousness, light beings not from our planet, out there, that are really helpful.

I do firmly believe at this point, that the only thing to fear on the astral plane is fear itself. The whole like attracts like. BUT this is only a belief of mine & not through experience! I personally can't wait to hang out with my dragon companions & my guides & the nature spirits in the garden. I'd like to keep my energies up so I can go to the *higher* astral realms, and actually remember. Not so much the higher levels/demensions just yet, just the higher spiritual realms of the closer astral plane. My spirit guides tell me (I also connect to higher self & 100% love & light etc, before getting any kinds of communications) I go there already, they show me mental pictures, & I already know what I am doing there, but they want me to learn to go there consciously & really remember it. Probably having a purpose & guidance out there helps! But if one calls on spirits to help or guide one REALLY has to do it deliberately! Know EXACTLY who is being called upon! Like Arch Angel Micheal is a good one to call upon, especially if faced with any problems.

Good point. I also feel like the most frightening thing for me is... being afraid. It's a bad feeling. I would actually love to meet an alien or a demon but when I think how much I would be afraid of it, I hold myself back from trying

It sounds like you already have seen an alien! I think those kind, that you described, are also as close to demonic as one can get too.

Personally though I'm all about the higher beings! Wanting contact with them more. They have more they can share with us (and vice-versa) that is actually powerful & life enhancing!

Although back in my witchcraft days I did hear a story about these witches, they were'nt "bad" witches or anything, probably more of the Light then anything else. But they were strong enough to be friends with all levels of beings & not be bothered negatively by the lower ones. But I think that takes a lot of self-love, personal power, & guidance from the right kind of spirit guides, & angels, & powerful enough magick & protections (which sometimes putting too much energy into even protection has the opposite result, because we do often attract what we are trying so hard to, & putting so much focus into, resisting) to know how to do that & not get "punched in the stomach".

I found this forum & blog while trying to seek help interpreting my dream and found many of the posts very interesting, especially that others have had similar visitors that could be alien or demonic?

All of my life I have had many visitors in my dreams. I never dismiss any dream that I remember. I believe that our dreams have significant meaning in our lives whether it be spiritual or a reflection of what is going on around us.

I am not one who purposefully astral travels. At least not consciously. I do it often in my sleep and for this I know I have a guardian (or many?) that watch over my body as I sleep. I am often awoken by my guardian by a loud whisper in my ear to "WAKE UP!" that vibrates throughout my entire body in which I am instantly returned to my physical body.

Last night I had a troubling experience in which bothers me immensely. I somehow travelled to one of my childhood homes, where I often travel and to my bedroom. It was different than it was when it was my bedroom. There was a bed where a male was sleeping, and then another bed unoccupied (I think?) so for whatever reason I lay down in the bed but could not sleep.

I lay there awake and watch the first visitor approach. The first visitor was an animal manifestation. A large gorilla. I asked my guardian in my dream why did they let this visitor through and the guardian (not my usual guardian?) replied that they did not think it meant to cause harm. This animal was a large gorilla (or some type of large primate) and first approached the bed with the male figure sleeping. I do not believe the male figure was a traveller. I think it was a person who currently occupies that home. Anyway, the gorilla didn't seem to be interested in harming him for long and started making his way toward me aggressively. Maybe he was an animal spirit guide of the person who's home I was in and found me to be an intruder? Anyway, we fought and I won.

Later, I was approached by a much different type of visitor. I don't believe he had any interest whatsoever in the male person lying in the bed. He instantly made his way toward me. He was wearing a black hat and black cloak or suit, and as he approached I noticed his face was very ugly. In my dream I thought he was an alien but thinking back on his behavior and appearance he seemed almost demonic. Anyway, he attacked me. He bit me on my right forearm twice and his teeth were sharp and curved inward. It was like he was trying to suck the blood out of my arm but his bite was poisonous.

Prior to waking up I travelled back to my body and my own bed where I spoke with my husbands spirit. I showed him my arm & told him I had been bitten. My arm was swollen and red where I was bitten. We talked some more but I can't remember much of the conversation.

Then, I awoke. It was not quite 3am. I felt violently ill. I stood up and went to the bathroom where I got sick.

This was different somehow. I feel as though my physical body was attacked during my dream or astral travel somehow.

i have a friend that always talks about his experiences. He's actually the one who introduced me to the idea. before that i had no idea this was even possible. but anyway, my point is, he's only 19, and he claims to have had many experiences with astral projecion.

also, i dont know if this is true or not but i read somewhere that habitual users of recreational/psychedelic drugs can achieve conscious astral projection easier. My friend i speak of, in fact does use psychedelics often, so that could be why.?. actually he said the first time he ever experienced it was while he was on mescaline... so there you have it, drugs can be beneficial

My family is very much into and partake in the paranormal. Many (except me, still trying though) has had astral projections into deep outer space while they were young and described something to me as a 'silver cord' attaching their astral bodies to their physical bodies.
