Default Time Travel for real

OK so this incident happened quite a while ago and nothing similar has happened since. But it was interesting.
I had friends staying over. We'd had a late night, but one of my friends thought it was a cool idea (!) to wake me up at the crack of dawn with a hot coffee....
I was polite but didn't appreciate this and felt wasted all morning. Around 11am I could stand no more and said I had to go for a nap, and left my friends downstairs talking.
I lay down and fell asleep, then woke up (yes, really woke up -not lucid dreaming)....and then quite fully awake, found I was leaving my body. There were all the noises that happened when I am leaving the body (whistling, vibrating sounds, etc) but also I could still hear my friends talking and laughing downstairs. I could even make out some of their words quite clearly.
Then I was standing in my room while out of body, sideways-on to my bed, and facing the window. I listened to make sure I could still hear my friends downstairs, and I could. I also took a quick reality-check (I always did things like this when I went out of body) -and looked out of the window, and indeed it was late morning, and the sun was shining, and everything looked fairly normal.
Then a sound of rushing wind came, and when it passed I was still standing in the same place, but now it was night time outside. I listened but could no longer hear my friends talking downstairs. Then I noticed the room -and the bed was no longer there. Neither were there any carpets and rugs in the room any more, and the floor was just bare wood. Instead of being open (as it was when I had laid down) the window was now shut. The room looked as if no-one at all lived there and hadn't for some time.
These sudden changes seemed odd, so I thought very clearly about taking a fix on time for some reason. I gazed intently at the night sky which was clear, and there were stars out. I noticed that the star formations in the south were those of winter time (and I knew it was May)
Then I gripped the concept that I had traveled in time. I did not know whether forwards, or backwards.
During the whole incident I was fully conscious and aware.
It freaked me out momentarily that I might not be able to get back to my own time.... But apparently I did.

Hey. The story is not finished. It's very interesting. What happened when you came to? How did you get back to your own time? Were your friends there and did they notice anything? Also sounds like you were deprived of sleep. Are you positive you were not sleeping. Once I was confused with a dream that was so real to me that I couldn't tell if the incident was a dream or if it really happened. I had to ask the person who was there. They confirmed they didn't remember us doing the event so I knew it was therefore a dream. I like the idea that you traveled in time either way.

Well I have gone consciously out-of-body a few times (it usually happened naturally, I was never trying to make it happen)
And it is nothing like a dream at all. And I have also had lucid dreams too -and the out of body experiences are nothing like even lucid dreams either.
My consciousness is just the same as my normal everyday (in the body) consciousness, only maybe even sharper and more aware. I put that down to a natural reaction when the mind/"body" finds itself in a sudden unusual position, and it must be a natural reaction to that and an instinct to become more aware.
I know weird things happen on the astral (like surreal things such as a hole appearing in a wall where there is no hole....etc etc That even though you're fully conscious and alert there are still some things that don't make practical "sense" from a 3D standpoint)
But that time-slip was the only occasion I had anything like that happen.

Later on, when I thought about this incident I realized if anyone had seen me they would have assumed I was a "ghost" from the past. But of course I didn't stay out long enough to tell what date it was (except that it was winter and I apparently didn't live in the house at the time)
Coming back was easy as usual. Just whooosh! and back to the body again, and back in my own time again. Feeling a bit dizzy, as usually happened. But when I came back to body it felt as if I'd been dropped from a height of about 3 feet to the bed. That did often happen.
Tired? Going out of body as opposed to dreaming of any kind -has a different effect. I always found it gave a surge of energy, unlike anything sleep did for me.
When I came back only 20 minutes had passed since I had laid down.

er...do you mean me?
If you do, then I would say I am, having gone out of body quite a few times, since 1980, probably on average about 6 times a year. But I was never very good at either doing it at will, or controlling situations when out. It either happened naturally or not at all. And I could control some things, but not others.

Hey I have a good idea. You have these projections so much maybe you can attend a sleep lab where they can monitor you. Labs are always looking for paid subjects. What you are experiencing is very frequent. Even your friends may be able to be in on an experiment with you. Of course you would have to predict when it happens most for best results. Extreme tiredness may be a trigger.

Log them if you haven't and what you can control vs. can't. Do you see anyone else? If they last 20 minutes do you think that is average? So much here to consider. I'll stop here. It really is a gift you have.

It'd be interesting to go to a sleep lab but have a dog who sticks to me like glue and there's no one to look after her while I was away. Anyway it's ages since I had any astral projection now for quite some time.
Yes I have met people while out. But not on that particular occasion. That would have been very interesting -to have met someone then. It might have told me a lot about what time I was in...? But if it was only a year or so time difference, or even months...it would have been harder to tell I suppose.

It was just a one-off, fascinating thing to happen. I just wondered if anyone else had had anything similar happen?

Yes, the reason I was asking was because you seemed to be describing astral projection to the T without actually using the term.

I don't think astral projection has ever occurred to me--although I do vaguely recall one incident from my childhood.

I started a book a while back that deals with astral projection called Ultimate Journey by Robert A. Monroe. Monroe does research with alternate forms of consciousness, but this particular book is about his subjective experiences. It's kind of an "out there" read but it's definitely interesting.

My mother gave me the book. She actually used to experience astral projection from time to time, but like you, she couldn't control it. She was actually quite frightened by one of the last experiences she had with it and asked God to never let it happen again. It hasn't.

I have never heard of anyone I personally know traveling in time, but I do recall Monroe discussing the issue of time in his book. He says he time traveled while projecting, and he describes the experiences in his book. The basic idea of why this was possible was because the astrals are not a plane like ours; the astrals are not chained to time.

This is really a fascinating subject to me so I would be interested in hearing more about your experiences. Have you done much research about astral projection?

I was glancing through an astral projection book and it said time travel was possible. However it said some odd things about it. For one there were cycles that determined where you could travel to. For example to go into the future you might be able to a day, a week, 3 weeks, etc. but you couldn't go an arbitrary number like 17.5 days. It didn't sound realistic to me but I'm no expert.

It also said time was different in the past and the future. For example going to the future you could spend an entire day in just a few minutes, but if you went to the past spending a few seconds there would take several real time minutes. IDK.

Well the first time it happened to me in 1980, and I thought I was sick -maybe having a heart attack or something! Then a friend helped me by letting me know what it was I was experiencing, and gave me a couple of books to read. One of them was the Sylvan Muldoon book. I tried to make myself go out of body but it never worked, then would happen all out of the blue when I was least expecting it. So I read a little bit about these things years ago. Then I knew someone very close to me who also astral projected. He used to visit me, when out of body, and we would go out together. Because I really loved him, then he went away, I guess that's what affected me having less projections. It hardly ever happens anymore. But sometimes if I've slept a few hours but not enough, then get up in the middle of the night, drink some coffee, stay up an hour or so, then go to lay down again. Sometimes then I go out of body. But not always.
Maybe it will come back again.
I had lots of interesting experiences over the years. Too many to mention without getting boring!
I actually haven't read Robert Monroe, though I have heard of him. I would very much like to read one of his books. That sounds interesting.

That was how my mother first experienced astral projection as well.
I feel that this is somewhat of a theme-- that it just comes out of the blue for some people.

I would like to try to astral project--but I don't really know why. I guess it's just out of curiosity, experiencing new things.

I also don't really know how I would try. Right now I am working on lucid dreaming, which I feel would be a good stepping stone to start with.
