On Monday night, I did my typical Monday night thing and went to the weekly open mic in my neighborhood. I had an off night performance-wise, but met a really amazing musician who I was immediately and powerfully drawn to because his vibe seemed to be on the same level as mine. In short, I had a great night despite my bad performance. As I was walking home, I kicked something on the ground without tripping. Just kind of punted it. As I saw a huge four-legged thing with a long, stringy tail scurry under a nearby fence, I realized that my boot had met a rat. Kind of grossed me out but didn't really bother me and I quickly forgot about it. Every night since, I have had dreams that end with a rat experiencing a long, drawn-out death. One night, there was a rat hiding in a hole in the carpet with its head poking out. A girl stepped on its head with her boot and woke up. Last night, there was a rat scurrying around the foyer of my house, and a white, pit-bill like dog chased it until he caught it in his mouth, then took it outside and dropped it on the ground by my front porch. Then I woke up. Each death has been only slightly disturbing. I have never had dreams with rats in them before, but it's weird that this has happened every night since I kicked that little guy walking home. What's the deal? Can anybody shed some insight into this? My thought is that it's symbolic of the expulsion of old habits, but why, then, would i be witnessing each rat killing instead of killing them myself? |

You sound like a nice person. It could be a touch of guilt that you unintentionally kicked a little critter? (and sent him scurrying!) Maybe your subconscious is just giving you a bit of a hard time over it.... Karma easily remedied. Say "sorry little critter...didn't mean to hurt you....clumsy me...hope you don't take offence" (plus there's the deep seated horror that humans mostly have about rats. In fact, rats are intelligent, apparently quite affectionate and loyal as pets, and supreme survivors) |
