This happened to me a few times. When trying to astral project I would go into a state where I just hear random noises/speech (maybe). I think its like the precursor to a dream, because when I got too tired to stay conscious during this state and just "gave in" to it, a dream would start. So this would be, becoming conscious in my astral body right (sleep paralysis), because your astral body slightly leaves your physical one during sleep. Did I get all that right? lol I can do this when I go back to sleep in the morning after waking up, so my mind is rested and I don't "need" sleep. So how do I astral project from this state, there's vibration when this is happening which is supposed to be the "launch" state? |

That's fantastic I've had probably about 200+ episodes of sleep paralysis in my lifetime and I'm 26. I've noticed I get them a lot on the weekends when I go back to sleep in the morning as well. Boy, I have had some *intense* experiences during sleep paralysis! I often forget just how intense it was afterwards, but during the actual episode it's like nothing else. What's interesting is the similarity apparently to a near-death experience, people often get the same really high pitch noise, vibrations and all that jazz. Infact the first time I had sleep paralysis I thought I was dying, lol. I've had several out of body experiences from the sleep paralysis state, most of them automatic but I have managed to induce the OBE a few times by projecting my consciousness outwards. To do this you simply imagine your somewhere close to your bed and really try to *feel* yourself there and orient yourself around the room. When you do this you will feel yourself getting pulled away from your body and the vibrations and noise get louder until *pop* and your out. *edit* If that doesn't work you could try the rope technique. To do this you use your etheric hands (not your physical hands) to pull yourself out of your body using an imaginary rope. Basically imagine there's a rope hanging from the ceiling at heart level, grab the rope with your hands using your awareness, really try and feel it and then start pulling. I strongly recommend reading the Treatise on Astral Projection Volume II by Robert Bruce btw (it's free and can be found using google) Last edited by Lionman; 01-11-2011 at 05:39 AM. |

Hey, yep, you're close, it usually happens when i fail projecting out of a dream. You get used to the experiences you might have during sleep paralysis, it may become like watching a bad horror movie where you just have to laugh. If you have contact on the other side, you might ask them to pull you out of the body, for me it worked, i got pulled out during a dream two weeks ago. If you want to induce it yourself, there are many techniques you can look up. The first times you may feel a pull from your root to your upper chakras, quite intense, and don't be scared of the noises, i don't feel anything now while leaving the body, it is like just slipping out. Bruce has a forum, which can provide you further information on the topic, for me it made many things clearer. Good luck, and tell us when you were successful! ~sb |

I haven't had one for ages now but I've had several lucid dreams. I'm more into lucid dreaming than OBEs now partially because they take less effort and are easier to control imo. | |

You are very close!! Typically if I get sleep paralysis I automatically have a O.B.E or W.I.l.D. It's also called phasing in the Robert Monroe community. If you want to project in the real time zone I would recommend that you visualize yourself climbing up a rope. Do this when you're close to the sleep paralysis state.
