Default Double Egg Yoke
So I was doing Eggnog this evening for the family to share. I opened a box of six and cracked open an egg with two yokes.

What are the chances? I'd never even heard of that happening, I felt like I had won a lottery. So what could this mean? Does this mean my family and of course myself will be blessed with an abundance of riches in 2011?

What are your thoughts?
Has it ever happened to you?

It happened to me at least 20 times and I can't say an abundance of riches followed next.. But maybe you are luckier than me

I don't know how to break it at you, but...it has happened to me at least 20 times too.
I do think that believing you'll be lucky will help your luck, though.

Um, yeah... sorry... double yolks in chicken eggs are just as frequent as twin births are to humans. Far more numerous in "jumbo" eggs, but still seen in "Large" and even "Medium" grade eggs from time-to-time.

Still... kinda like getting a two dollar bill: Not rare, but still fun when it happens.

used to happen a lot when i got eggs from a neighbour who had their own chickens. i guess it means it's more natural, or less regulated, or something.

the chickens aremost probably fed on hormones to lay more eggs causing them to double ovulate.
