Default Lucid Dreaming Regiment (Supplemental Development Phase)

So I am beginning a new experiment on lucid dreaming to see if I can induce intense lucid dreams and just to see how long I can make them last. So far I have a list of memory and awareness enhancers that could prove to be key in opening this realm for me. Here is my regiment so far. Before bed I am going to take..

500mgs of L-tryptophan which is turned into melatonin
450mgs of holy basil which is supposed to induce very vivid dreams
3mgs of melatonin
500mgs of valerian root extract
500mgs of kava kava to enhance dreaming activity
500mgs of passion flower which is also supposed to have lucid dreaming effects.

The L-tryptophan is to put me to sleep, the holy basil, melatonin, passion flower and kava kava is to make my awareness skyrocket. I know and understand that the odds of going into sleep paralysis are very great here but I"m not afraid since I know the signs that I am going into sleep paralysis. hell I may beable to induce a W.I.L.D btw I'm not going to rely on these supplements I'm only going to take them until I can lucid dream without them. (Yes I do lucid dream practices during the day).

okay, but try to not kill yourself

being alive is essential for lucid dreaming.

Can you find out what it is maybe, and post it?

woah, googled 'dream herb' and what I found brought back some Carlos Castaneda memories. I'm at least vaguely interested now... hm. Thanks for the tip!

as far as lucid dreaming goes, I spent about three months pursuing that very heavily maybe two years ago. I haven't hardly touched it since, but I still have a very abnormal dream life compared to what it was like before. I kind of stopped because I was starting to have spontaneous visions, way too many unexpected synchronicities, and in general a sense that 'there's a very real rabbit hole here, and I don't know where it goes'. I also got some life changing teachings from some of the dreams, and a sense that I'd received what I was meant to receive already, hence the leaving that path for a while.

The thing that made the difference for me was a kind of meditation I discovered while researching astral projection. It involves learning deep relaxation, counting heartbeats, and (after you're deep into the hypnagogic state) seeing if you can physically feel yourself climbing up a rope with your eyes closed, and leaving your body behind. I doubt that particular visualization is important, but it definitely gave me a huge boost in my awareness over the three months I was regularly practicing this.

I also used binaural beats I dug up to help with the meditation, that seemed to help out quite a bit as well, though apparently the audio guys exploring this stuff have invented isochronic beats... can't comment on that, but it might be worth exploring.

Anyway, that combined with keying in a few triggers while awake within one month led to two months of almost constant lucid dreaming. Just be warned though, sleep paralysis is the least of the freaky stuff I encountered in some of those altered states. What's your reason for wanting to explore? That's really going to have a massive influence on what you experience, and whether or not it's fundamentally positive or negative. If it's about a road into seeing your own shadow (in Jungian terms) more clearly, or channeling some of the creativity and insight and guidance that's usually sleeping under the surface, then this will be a powerful tool. At least, that was my experience.
