Unsettled spirit?

Hi there,
About half a mile over the road from me, I believe there is a ghost or a spirit of some kind.
It's a little country road, where we've heard a few strange stories from neighbours and friends. The old house, that we suspect is haunted, lies in ruins now. There is a little pathway off the road which leads up to the house, surrounded by high trees, and is almost hidden from the road by a ditch.

We believe it to be haunted from anecdotes from neighbours and friends. I heard the first story about ten years ago from the man himself. He told me he was walking his girlfriend home at the time (about 30 years ago) He told me it was getting dark, they were just passing that particular house and all of a sudden something grabbed his leg, with such a strong force he couldn't move. He immediately turned around but could see nothing. It let about after 5 - 10 seconds.

Recently, that man's brother-in-law (who lives next door to that house) told my father that he was out walking one day. He was walking in the direction of his house, yet to pass our house. He said he could hear foot steps following him all the way over the road. He looked but could see no one or nothing around him. As he approached our land, the footsteps stopped and began again after he had walked past our house and onto the neighbours land. And the footsteps followed him all the way over as far as his house.

This evening my father was in the pub and what ever way the conversation turned, a man told him that someone committed suicide in that house which is now in ruins at the beginning of the 19th Century.
Now that I know this information I feel compelled to do something about it. My father told me to leave it. But I cannot, if this is an unsettled spirit I feel it deserves peace. I am not psychic or anything like that I just feel very compassionate for other people and empathetic. I have no idea what to do. Do you guys think that this suicide in this house is connected to these spiritly encounter my friends have had? What can I do to unsettle this spirit? Is it my responsibility? Or am I just playing with fire? HELP!!!!

Hi Chillcity,
I feel the suicide might have something to do with it, possibly a person hung themselves from a tree by the road who lived at the house once. Or maybe there was a tragic accident on the road in front of that particular house. I think your best bet would be to do more research before doing anything. It's not your responsibility but if you feel strongly about it than check to see if any psychic/healer in your area deal with spirit cross overs.
Whatever you do don't go at it alone.

I would opt for answer 4 and then answer 1 of your poll. I can't pick both on the poll obviously. Find out what you can from a psychic and if the psychic tells you that there is indeed a spirit there that hasn't crossed over then get the local priest to say a mass.
As Ania said, don't try anything on your own.

I would opt for a medicine man, but I doubt you have access to one. A priest will have to do, I suppose...

I believe that if a priest said mass for the spirit, it would find peace. But if you are curious and want to help at the same time, I could help you with that. My girlfriend and I have a lot of experience with helping unsettled spirits, it is a part of our routine work. I will send you a PM.

welcome to the forum , I would get some people that do paranormal investigations that are in your area to see who or what was there first . You might set up some tape records and look for e.v.p.s . If this is a trapped soul they would be able to help them . desert rat

A Mass said for the restless Spirit(s) as there may be more than one....would be a good and compassionate thing to do. Delving deeper into this using mind only or curiosity I believe will not help this situation and could perhaps even make things worse.

A Mass said properly is a very powerful Sacred Ritual. We have become somewhat cynical of the Church, but there are still excellent practitioners of those Sacred Arts.
