Back then Dentistry wasn't as advanced as it is today, therefore I assume there were more dental problems, and abscesses were probably more common. I think this poor woman has a terrible toothache, and is holding a compress to her face for some relief. I had one last year, and that was all that I could do until I was able to see the dentist. I feel sorry for her, and if I could, I would travel back in time and give her some Penicillin and a Percocet. Poor Thing!!  |

That's possible. She could also be putting her hand up to her face and is talking to herself, thinking of what she needs to do or has forgotten. Or what direction she needs to go, she could be lost. many reasons. People touch their face when stressed or thinking. I think the mobile association is because people see what they want to see. Or they associate it with the familiar (modern contexts).

The person is probly holding something that just looks like a cell phone , but who knows . She is definitely holding something in her hand which from the tiny bit you can see of it, looks black, or dark, and oblong in shape. It does remind me of a phone from the nineties - a bit larger than the ones we have now. She's also definitely talking into it. At first I thought maybe it's one of those old walkie-talkie things but there's no antenna. Couldn't be a small voice recorder either -they hadn't been invented in 1928. Weird, certainly. I definitely got the feeling the guy presenting this was being straight and honest about it. |

The transistor was invented in 1947 , 19 years after this film . Radio gear of this era had large vacuum tubes . One cell phone in 1928 is worth less . If he/she is talking to some one it must to be either a fellow time traveler in 1928 or some one in the future . desert rat

Well I don't suppose, with our technology today, that it would be beyond the realms of possibility for some techie to film someone dressed in period costume, sepia it up a bit, and insert it into a copy of the movie, then re-record, and package the movie up for sale...? Heavens sakes...if techies can get bits of steel/titanium or whatever up onto Mars, they could do a little job like this...? |

If you seriously think about this for a second, and, ASSUMING this really is a cell phone, how did she have cell phone reception?!? I have sprint, and sometimes I cannot even get reception in my kitchen, Or when I take a drive down to the lake ect... and its 2010!! So, if this really was a cell phone, how did they have reception? Think about it....
