Hi, a few hours ago I was at a store chain buying some light bulbs to replace 4 damaged ones at my house. When I came home there was no one there. I opened the door to my house, then opened the door to my room left my wallet and personal things there then went to the living room changed a light bulb there, then to my sisters room, the hallway and left the walk in closet for last. I had left the last light bulb on the kitchen counter top to avoid dropping it and went to the walk in closet which is located in the back of the house. That specific light bulb had burned over 5 months ago (I know because of a black stain common in burned out bulbs) and the room was in total darkness, I could see only a bit due to a bit of indirect reflection from the light in my room which is some 9 feet away across the hallway but separated from the closet by a wall. Nevertheless the walk in closet is a rectangle with only one door entrance where there was no direct light whatsoever. I know where the bulb is located so with my right hand I reached for the bulb unscrewing it and passing it to my left hand with my index finger touching the diode directly when suddenly it started to glow augmenting intensity for 2 seconds approx. till reaching its full glow. I can understand that It could have been some kind of energy burst from my body, but I'm puzzled because it is a fact that that light bulb had burned months ago. That is what I'm finding this so hard to understand. This happened to me today some minutes past seven pm. I have looked for hours for an explanation and in the process found this forum. Can anyone with a scientific point of view give me a possible answer?? If there is no scientific explanation anyone give me any kind of possible reason why this happened?? Just to be clear about this no light from an alien source had anything to do with this since the bulb was right in front of my chest and the indirect light from my room could have never ever reflected on that bulb that lit the entire room and my face for around 2 seconds. If any curiosity I did not stay there I went out the house til my beloved mother came back. Anyone have an answer???? This is my first post, hope I did it right LOL. Thanks to you all. You may of been making an electrical circut through the bulb . If it was a c.f.l. a high voltage electrical field can make it glow . Many years ago I would take 8 ft floresect bulbs under over head power lines to watch them glow . Not as bright as powered from a balist , just a glow . desert rat

I'm not sure if it would work with a burnt out light or not, but I found by accident a few days ago that touching a light bulb when I have a bit of static electricity built up can make it light up. I was touching the glass portion of the bulb, groping for the switch to turn the lamp on, not the metal part that electricity is usually transmitted through, but it lit it up fine for a moment. It could have been similar in your case. The filament may have been broken so it could no longer receive electricity through the metal part that plugs into a socket, but the charge from your built up static electricity was able to reach it from a different direction. Now that sounds just like it might have been the cause. I feel you may be correct. I grabbed it by the glass with my right hand and my left index finger was on the diode thumb being on the metal. Sounds pretty close to a possible answer. Thanks for your reply and of course for reading! |
