well...im posting here because i dont know where else to find the information im looking for. i guess this may end up being just a bunch of gibberish, but any kind of input would be greatly appreciated. ive never had any kind of paranormal experience. not really....i have always imagined that things are with me in my dark bedroom at night, since childhood. i sense them, and am deeply frightened. i always just assumed that im afraid of the dark, that my imagination is in overdrive when i cannot see my surroundings. and for all i know that could be true. but somehow i feel very connected with the idea of multiple dimensions and things of the like. a long time friend has revealed to me within the past few years that she is a medium. she astral projects, sees beings, and believes that she has visited a parallel universe. shes an incredibly intelligent girl, very mathematically inclined, and bit quirky. i reason with myself that she may just be a raving lunatic, but strangely, every time she shares a story of her paranormal experiences with me it affects me....i begin to cry. not bawling or sobbing, but my eyes will fill with tears and spill over during normal conversation. its very strange. it feels as if its a sign of some sort. but i remain somewhat skeptical... i just think theres got to be something to these feelings. i feel them deeper than what i can describe...i recently discovered the "chakras" associated with buddhism, and i swear...i can feel them resonating inside me. in the exact locations illustrated. if that makes sense. i want to find a deeper connection to things of this nature, but im inexperienced, and even worse...im scared. i dont want to be but i feel the fear in my stomach when my mind toys with the idea of communicating with things that are not of this reality. im quite positive thats what is holding me back. i know this has been a bit of a ramble, but im just terribly confused about things and ready to find some kind of understanding. has anyone experienced these feelings, and does anyone have any idea what the crying is about? |

Ease yourself into the information. There's plenty to read and discover. You might even come to enjoy it. | |

i definitely enjoy it, i just wish i understood it on a more personal level. ive dabbled in astral projection, but clearing my my mind completely is one hell of a task...i want to see or experience something...sometimes when im alone and suddenly feel as if someone is in the room with me, ill say "hello!" aloud. haha. i ask the presence to reveal its self to me, but of course nothing happens and then i just end up feeling like an *******. |

Saying "hello" when you sense something is there isn't so bad. It shows you are being friendly! I started dabbling 30 years ago, so to me some of the information out there is old hat, but there is always something new and groundbreaking to learn. For example, I'd heard of Abraham Hicks for a while but had no idea who or what that was until I looked it up on youtube. Now I'm quite fascinated! |

A little green man once said "Fear is the path to the dark side.", and that's entirely true here as well. All of this stuff is new for you, while at the same time seems deeply familiar. That would make anyone nervous, but you don't want to give in to your nerves. Astral projecting while being fearful is a great way to end up places you would never want to go. The best thing to do is arm yourself with knowledge and courage. Knowledge about what will happen and how it all works will help disolve the fear about the unknown. Courage will help disolve the fear about what will happen. If you are a kind, nice person though, there's nothing to be afraid of. It's all perfectly natural, and everything leading up to astral projection and being a medium is totally safe. If you believe in spirit guides and you can get in touch with them, you can ask them to protect you while you learn. They'll be more than happy to. |

I think you've received lots of reassurance here, and I wanted to say that I've also met women like your friend, and I have had quite a few experiences that have caused me to question my own sanity, so it's normal. I think it's healthy to have some skepticism as well, as long as it is open-minded by nature, and your experiences will dissolve any skepticism as you go along. Feeling scared of what is unknown is understandable, if you weren't scared THEN I'd have to question you Last edited by elucidate; 10-09-2010 at 12:29 PM. |

| If I may interject, there's really nothing mystical about that. No more so than being able to feel your kidneys. And they're not really associated with Buddhism any more than they are with Confucianism, Daoism or yoga. They're just a feature of your biology that current medicine hasn't caught up to yet.

thanks for the responses, folks... i really suck at meditation, but i gave my best shot at contacting my "spirit guide" last night...not really sure if it worked, but i did have some very vivid dreams upon falling asleep. oh well, like i saw on some cheesey t-shirt, "every journey begins with first step". thanks again for the support. |
