Online Reiki Attunement?

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone could tell me about this. I was browsing old forum posts and came across links for free Reiki attunements.

You read a guide, listen to a clip of music that is supposedly composed or infused with the right vibrations or something, sit for 10 more minutes and supposedly can now do Reiki.

Does anyone know if this actually works or is the only way that you must receive attunement from a master in person? Or perhaps the desire to be able to perform this healing with the universal energy is enough since it's supposed to bring you what you need (and in effect that is why listening to the clip works?). I believe that we ALL possess the ability to use energy healing. Attuned or not.

I ALSO believe in the power of distance reiki. I've experience it's benefits first hand.

That said, I would personally PREFER to receive an attunement to Reiki in person. Do I think it can happen via distance? Yes...would I take one? No.

I'm a person who likes structure and I truly believe that my Reiki courses (in person) gave me the confidence to practice that an online attunement/course wouldn't have offered me for Reiki.

For me it made total sense that if Dr Usui was attuned by himself without a "master" then the construct of a master providing all future attunements was/is just a false construct albeit providing confidence, heirarchy and structure to those who need it.

This is from the site "Mikao Usui, the founding father of modern day Reiki, actually attuned himself to Reiki all those years ago!

Which is quite obvious when you really think about it – as there was no-one else there on the mountain to do it for him!

(Yes, some people say a great light came out of the darkness, hit Usui in the forehead and gave him Reiki – and that sounds beautifully mystical doesn’t it? But, it’s just a ‘flight of fancy’ I’m afraid, and it’s not meant to be taken at all seriously).
