Red hot Reiki

The other day, I had an interesting experience...

I was in a relationship that recently ended, that also left me with lingering anger and resentment towards the other person. (We'll call him "John".) I did EFT on that anger and resentment, using as my "focus" various things he said in his last e-mails to me. (Things that really bothered me, pissed me off, and have consumed me for a while.) I went through the sequence of points, the 9 gamut sequence, and the points again. I felt noticeably better.

Later, I was doing Reiki on myself. I have a Level II attunement, so I can use the mental/emotional healing symbol (Sei Hei Ki). I also use affirmations alongside the symbol, as my teacher taught me. So, here I am. I've traced the symbol on my head three times, have my right hand on the top front of my head and the left on the base of my skull. As I feel the energy flowing through, I repeat the following affirmation: "I am healing from the 'John' situation, learning what I need to learn, and moving on."

As I do this, I suddenly get really warm, feeling as if I'm in a sauna. My hands, in particular, are burning really hot. I also feel a bit of something like distress but unrelated to any obvious stimulus.

When I finish this part, I remove my hands and run them down my head and face and over the front of my body -- and, just like that, I feel cool again. (Which suggests it was not an issue with the temperature of the room.)

My best guess is that the Reiki energy was hitting something really important, causing the flow to go into overdrive...perhaps aided by the effects of the tapping from earlier. One thing I can see is that, although I retain some anger and resentment towards "John," I am also able to have better feelings -- neutral, understanding, forgiving, etc. -- towards him more easily than in the recent past.

Any thoughts on what could have been happening there with the "red-hot Reiki"? Thanks!

Today, I actually did some more tapping. This time, I used the Ho'oponopono phrases "I'm sorry, please forgive me, I love you, thank you." We'll see what that does...

My take on it that - while your immediate difficulties with the break-up and the anger and resentment that followed from it were the stimulus for you to do the self-healing session - the heat you felt was the outcome of giving yourself Reiki in the way you did. Nothing wrong with it. There were no problematic outcomes, right?

Both the procedures that you did were effective in helping you to regain your center and positive feeling about life. So this is good.

I tend to feel that your recent relationship issues offered an occasion for a more generally significant healing within you.

I'm a Reiki-ist, too. I had a background in self-exploration, yoga and Zen meditation, dream work, and other related things before I got attuned. Since my attunement, and especially over the last five years, I've been getting sensations in the back of the neck and into my head, plus body heating (especially during my sleep hours, at night). Often this heating is more concentrated in my hands and feet.

Overall, I have reason to feel there is an uplevelling going on in me... something that has become more or less automatic. I've been communicating with people about this experience of mine, on various self-development and spiritual forums for at least four years. Quite a few people have told me they see it as related to a general spiritual shift that is taking place for humanity currently. (Doesn't mean that everybody on Earth is aware of this shift, by any means... many people would regard this idea as "bunk" or "silly ideas".)

Anyhow, don't know of this is helpful, but this is what came to me.

It'd be great if some of the other Reiki-ists here chimed in...

That makes a lot of sense, since some of these issues were very related to past issues. Kind of like, replays. Oddly enough, I also feel better about similar incidents from before that, as well.

I have to agree with that. I feel like, as humanity progresses and we become more aware of energetic and paranormal phenomena, we feel like we have more options and can find something more meaningful for us.

Personally, I have stopped trying to deduce anything that reiki is doing. I have concluded that the "scientific method" does not work in predicting or understanding the action of reiki energy. Reiki is its own life and its own will.

What your experience meant is that it was working. Only God and reiki know what it was doing.

You can't control reiki or how it heals you. It just does. It's different every time. It's as if reiki itself is intuitive and knows what has to be done in every case and does it. Unless we have the knowledge that reiki has, we can't know what it's doing or why it brings the sensations it brings.

One time, I was healing a guy who interrupted the session right in the middle to sexually harass me. He was suddenly gripped with convulsions of cold. He was shaking with cold so badly, he had to lie down and cover himself up and was still freezing. It was 70+ in the room in the middle of the summer. He thought it was punishment for interrupting the session.

All I can offer is that I have noticed that each emotional issue we have is related to some physical part of our body, and sometimes, when you reiki emotional issues, you may notice improved physical health. Or, by contrast, if you reiki a physical issue until it's gone, you may notice that an emotional issue is also gone - depending on how self-aware you are.

I think that's a really awesome attitude to take. It really is its own thing and operates by its own rules.
