Why do some people that have crossed choose to become spirit guides? Will they have some task that they have to complete for themselves? How do they pick the person they guide? Sorry that's 3 qs in one! Thanks

In a group i go to the teacher has a guide who was a vortex healer, we did a session on guides where one text she has says that guides and angels never walked the earth as humans and another where it said they did, there is a lot of conflicting points about whether guides were human before. Possibly due to some beliefs that the guards are just parts of you and your higher self.

Personally i believe some were human and some guides have always been guides, i think (my opinion) based on things i have read and experenced that a guide who has previously lived once crossed over can in some cases help you reach your soul's purpose, which is to achieve in this life whatever it was you chose before being born into the world.

Also i am a strong believer n soul-mates, not just in the sense of the one persfect partner, i think each soul has a certian group of souls they will be involved in during their time on the planet and each reincarnation they will meet these same souls but in different aspects, for example someone who was your husband in one life could be your brother or a friend in the next. So perhaps this guide is one of the soulmates who has yet to be reincarnated but wil still play a part in that persons life

as i said this is my opinion, i am not stating this is how it is, but this is how i believe it to be,

I will be really interested to see other peoples point of veiws on this too

i dont think theres one real answer to the questions because everybody has their own reasons for doing things

some guides have incarnated before and some haven't.

Guides are chosen for their wisdom, willingness, and ability to guide and advise an incarnated person.

Could a guide be chosen for karmic reasons? Probably but not usually.

Your higher self helps select the guides who will guide you in life.

there are different types of guides. some that act as conduit guides, like my Bob. Some that advise you on matters of the heart and some that help with matieral world concerns.

I'd go for the guides being a part of your consciousness theory. As in an iceberg, where the tip is your ego/personality identity, while what lies beneath the surface is your higher self, guides, angels; or whatever you would like to call them.

However, I see no reason why certain spirits couldn't contact a person, eg a human who died 1000 years ago and "evolved", if it is right for you to contact them; who could help put you in contact with your true self....

A) Everyone there does something to help. There are no spirits laying around doing nothing, unless they're in a not so good place (we don't talk about that). They first go to a class to learn how to help people, and acquire a skill in doing so. Some have a natural talent for one of the various tools that are involved. In those cases, who they help may have to do with their particular skill.

B) These guides are not allowed to help with things that are somehow connected to the life they led when on earth, for instance to right a wrong that had been done to them in the past. But they can be allowed to work with surviving members of their family on occasions, and more especially distant members of family, like grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc.

C) They don't, usually. The person they help is selected for them, based on need, who is available, and who has the talent and skill to help. But they can ask to help a specific person, and the request is sometimes granted, as long as certain conditions are met, such as, the guide has no personal reasons for doing so, that their motivation is strictly about the benefit of the one they are helping, that there is no conflict of interest involved. Great care is given to this.

I think I've got a blog entry on higher selves. do a search on my blog, but in general your higher self is the consciousness you left behind when you incarnated into a physical body. He or she is your truest essence, the gamer behind the game character you play now, the actor behind the character you play now. The one who decides what type of life you wanted to have when you got here.
