Default See Yourself from Different Eyes (LD Question)

Would it be possible to find usefulness in taking the form of another individual in a lucid dream in order to see your own self from a different light?

Taking into account the intelligence of the mind and its ability to create a realistic experience, could you take the form of a character with entirely different outlooks, emotions, amongst other things, to emphasise just how the real you comes across to other people?

Your brain not only knows exactly how you act in life but it surely has the intelligent capability to recreate other emotions and opinions to make this all possible in the dream world.

I am far from an experienced lucid dreamer, but if I can do this and find great use in it, it is something I'd like to do when my dream capabilities become more advanced.

Has anybody here ever tried something like this?

I think it might be a valuable experience - and probably would be possible by utilizing lucid-dreaming skills, once developed.

I've had several experiences along that line, though not by deliberately developing LD skills. Whenever you can experience yourself from a new and very different angle, I'd say it's valuable. To eperience yourself freshly and more-or-less objectively, like you are referring to, would be one way of doing that.

Absolutely, I think it would provide a very informative and interesting experience. Depending on how reliable it would prove to be, I think it would be a great way for somebody to help them see things they'd need to change. I'd imagine the subconscious would hold all truths in that you wouldn't disregard the fact somebody may truly care for you, whereas in our waking world it seems to be a possibility that people do just that and look at their own reflections in the completely wrong way.

Very true. I grew up with a complicated and sometimes fearful and resentful relationship with my father... a situation that grew more unpleasant and intense especially from age 11 or so to age 19 (when I left home). It cast darkness on that portion of my inner life that had to do with my father, and the darkness spilled over in certain influential ways to other aspects of my life and relationships.

At a certain point in time, on an evening, I had an experience where I saw myself as a boy or youth sitting and talking with my father - but instead of seeing the relationship and conversation from within "my own skin", so to speak, I saw us both from slightly above our heads. Kind of as though a camera did a slow pan on us from above. I saw two people, one younger one older, both talking. The perspective was completely different, and not just visually. This experience was the beginning of something very therapeutic for me... the beginning, but not the end. Other developments much later continued and completed the process, I'd say.
