Hi all! This is my first post. I found this forum off of Google and thought it looked like a wonderful community, so here I am. I'm currently undergoing what seems to be a very big transition in my life. I'm eighteen and I'll be starting university in just over a month. I'll be moving halfway across the country and the stress of it all--along with the excitement--is making me quite anxious. I want to be sure I can make as much out of the next four years as I possibly can; I want to be motivated, I want to find a career path, I want to lose weight, and I really want to have a solid social life (this is something I've struggle with in high school, since I moved in the middle of sophomore year). Basically, I just want to be healthy and happy. What kinds of paranormal resources can I use for assistance during my initial transition and beyond? Are there any general words of wisdom? I believe my guardian angel/sprit guide came to me in a dream last summer, but I haven't heard from her since, and whenever I ask, I'm not able to pick up on signals. Should I take up tarot? I heard that using a deck you purchase for yourself is ineffective--is this true? Any kind of guidance would be greatly appreciated! |

Welcome Siv! As a university student the best advice I can give you is don't procrastinate, lol. Right from the start, work hard and consistently. It will take away so much of the stress when exams roll around (and there is SO MUCH more material to cover than in high school). As for the social aspects, just be open, talk to people, join clubs, go to parties |

I don't have any paranormal advice for you, but if I were talking to my own self at your age and in your position, I would urge her to take the Landmark Forum and Advanced Course before starting uni. In fact, I'd pull a Patrick Swayze, and haunt myself, singing "I'm Henry the Eighth I am" over and over again until my younger self agreed to do it.

Hello! Tip #1 I recommend this book: Amazon.com: How to Become a Straight-A Student: The Unconventional Great strategies for doing well and staying stress-free in college. Tip #2 In your efforts to socialize, be careful what you drink and who you drink it with. Have fun. Exciting times ahead for you. |

I think meditation is a great way to combat stress - and even in a stressful moment, it's very easy to just move your attention to the process of breathing and instantly feel calmer. As you explore meditation you might also be interested in the Law of Attraction. Not exactly "paranormal" depending on your definition, but not exactly mainstream either. Plus these methods have the added bonus of supporting your empowerment and self-authority. General traits that can help you succeed in life Practically/generally, I agree with Noelle about just going out and taking advantage of the opportunities. Might also help to keep in mind virtually the whole freshman class is also new, and everyone will be feeling kinda similar to how you might be feeling with all that exciting new stuff to experience. Consider whether intense drinking will have a payoff in the long run before you do it, and if you're interested in paranormal topics you may want to research the energetic implications of drinking and such. Also, don't accept a drink from someone else unless it's in a sealed container, and keep your drink in your hand all the time. (I know how I might be sounding here... but still...) Have fun, try not to take yourself super-seriously, and oh exercise regularly can accomplish several of your wants (motivation, weight, and career - believe it or not, exercise gets you in touch with the root chakra and this helps greatly in decision-making, it's a stress-buster too) so you may want to take advantage of free access to the gym and fun classes. Use condoms every time! Kudos to you for your ambitions, and I hope you flow through this transition beautifully | |

Read the angel books of Doreen Virtue, like "healing with the angels". or "Archangels and ascended masters", her books will help you reconnect with your angels and when in school you'll find them to be incredible friends with loads of practical help, for everything! I wish I had all the experience I have now with angels, when I was back in college... i would done 10 times better and would have enjoyed myself more... oh well...and so it goes....lol! |

Some advice from personal experience: 1.Get the best notes on your lessons you possibly can. Exchange with others, too. It may distinguish an A from a C. 2.Gather as much info about your proffessors as possible. Meaning, you need to know what kind of person each one is, what wheighs for them when they decide the marks and what kind of answers they like to get at the tests. Get questions from their previous tests if possible, too. You will know how to study that way. Just studying everything just as hard is something you won't always have the time to do. Also you'll avoid to write something the prof really dislikes that way, or rub him/her the wrong way for no reason. 3.The university doesn't work exactly like school. It's diffrent everywhere, I guess, but keep in mind there are some, maybe minor, but sometimes important, diffrences. 4.Get a life. University years are, for enough people, the best years of their life! And you do study in order to get a good life, so no need to study all day and forget what life feels like Last edited by Nimue; 01-13-2011 at 11:12 AM. |
