Bright intense light light while falling asleep

I have meditating for several months regularly, and recently I have been having several unusual experiences. This is one in particular. Can anyone describe this or had similar experiences?

Several times recently as I am falling asleep, during the days I am at higher vibration, I will be awaken by an intense flash of white light.
There is also a sound but it's more like a high pitched soft noise that is something like an air compressor followed by high pitched ringing.

The first time I experienced it. It was as if this intense flash of light was above me off to the right. The second time it was right in front of my face. Both time I had my eyes shut but saw it clearly, the first times I was spooked for hours, but the second time I was calmer.

This last part is a bit harder to describe in words but I'll give it a try. I felt as if my being, was moving into the light, or the light was moving towards me. I don't know for sure. One thing I can say for sure though is both times it happened, I had been at highest state.

I am curious to know if maybe I was having an out of body experience, or maybe a visit from my spirit guide. Whatever it is, I hope it happens again, and I will be calm enough to find out what it was.

Your a unique configuration of the one.. just as I am and just as everyone else is.. it's hard for me to tell you what's going on with you, just cause I'm not you (sorta )

There are some knowledgeable people on here in the psychic persuasion.. so they may help out.. but I do know the "ringing in the ears" this is a symptom of ascension.. my teacher actually has a name for it.. but I don't remember.. I'd have to look it up.. I have it a lot lately, sometimes..

My understanding is that the angels per some of the information I heard will be visible to the naked eye to some/all as white orbs.. that's my understanding.. I'm not saying I see "white orbs" yet

Here is something I will tell you I know.. k?

Whatever is in that white I will tell you this.. it's you! According to my teacher rule #2 that effects all realities "the one are all and the all are one"

So why we have separation between us the lamp, the goldfish, the tv.. and the "white light" there all us! So no need to worry.. I'm sure this mystery will resolve itself shortly and I'm sure it'll/we'll be back

I don't know what it is, but I've experienced the white flashing light, too. Aswell as everything going completely white for like 10-15 seconds(eyes closed).

I hear ringing in my ears constantly, so I'm used to it. It does get a lot louder before falling asleep. They call it tinnitus.

see i have a similar problem but it's not a white light for me. i see pure darkness and i don't get any noises. i haven't been able to go longer then 30 seconds of pure dark before my mind freaks out and it goes away. from what my ex teacher said is that it's the wall of your own energy and that once you can accept you can travel to the other side.

I agree with Perry on accepting the energy..

I seen a floating white orb the 1st time I meditated and tried to connect with my spirit guides...it freaked me out so much that I stopped for about 3 months. Now I have accept it, and im seeing this white energy everytime I connect with spirits/angels..Because I only see orbs when I am open to recieve information from the other side I look at it as spirits assuring me that he/she is there, and there is a understanding. Now when I see these floating orbs I feel very very comfortable, it's a very warm feeling. And now im not only seeing a ball of light but recently only when i meditate, at any time in the night my window lights up as if their was 10 headlights in front of it, only there is no street behind my house..so i get a very good feeling from this..

My best advice is to accept it...themaster told me once "What your fearing is you..Your creating a block from yourself"..that seemed to help me alot

I know this sounds random- but last night sometime btwn 11:24 - 11:39 I too.. saw the white light. I Have always had an ability to experience things others can't ...but I have never experienced anything like this- I was not alseep, just there with my eyes closed, then all of a sudden this bright light, intense white..was blinding my eyes. It was as if someone was standing over me with an LED flashlight shining it right in my eyes, only more intense..the strange part of this all...I posted it on facebook a couple minutes ago and already 2 women friends of mine, both living in Raleigh nc experienced it as well...last night. I googled "bright light ion eyes while falling alseep" seeking answers. I encourage people to reply to this- lets figure this out!!! I immediately thought, paranormal or extraterrestrial.... I am not crazy, I am a conservative, married woman, who is college educated...I dont understand what happened last night, all I know is that I felt really scared when I woke up- it was not a pleasant experience.

sometimes when i am going to sleep i experience something similar.

for me, it's usually RIGHT AWAY when I lay down to sleep, maybe a minute after i close my eyes. I see a white light...it's not terribly bright. The best way to describe it would be that the light seems to "swim" over me for a bit...it appears blob-like, if that makes sense. The light moves over my eyelids kind of like how the stuff inside a lava lamp moves..

other times i experience other colors "swimming" over me. White is the most common, but i've had blue and even black. The blackness is hard to describe, because my eyes were closed and i was already seeing black...the back of my eyelids you know. But there was definitely an increase in the deepness of the blackness...a deeper dark swimming over me...

But, like I said, it is usually the white light.

few days back i experienced intense light accompanied with same intensity noise, in all that i felt some person, character. It all lasted like 1sec. Happened when i went to sleep, but still being fully awake.

Yeah I saw that quick flash of light to. I saw it twice one night and it freaked me out for a while, then again it happened again when I was meditating. I asked my friend and he says its the state where your about to enter an OOBE.

I started reading The Head Trip (Jeff Warren); cool bit of sync; reading about the bright lights/hypnagog state; referred to as "eigenlicht", "ideoretinal light" which some believe what the dream-matter is "made of" or originates from. At least a point to start googling for more info.

I too see intensely bright light during meditation, and sometimes while falling asleep. For some time I've known that my brow chakra has been open, so the experience it not related per se to the opening of my third eye. Comments regarding the "light switch on the wall" are not instructive in helping me understand what I'm going through. (Such comments merely reflect a lack of understanding and/or appreciation of others.)

Perhaps others have "seen" this bright light: Intense, white to off-yellow in color, growing larger and brighter during the episode, until the bright light seems to "dance" or even begin to swirl in color. It's when I sense I am at a precipice, an almost overwhelming boundary that *I* pull back from the light, and it gradually subsides and then "merely" remains a bright light.

Can anyone instruct us bright-light witnesses what this means? How can I grow to accept and respond to that boundary so that I pass beyond it? I should mention that years ago I experienced an NDE, which in some ways resembled the bright light (but in many ways far exceeded the totality of it).

Helpful and instructive comments are most welcome.

I had seen it once, when I was still a kid. I remember raising my energy awfully high the same day before seeing it. It was a sight I'll never forget.
My bet is that it's relevant with the change of perception that follows a change of the brain's energy levels of functioning. But then again, I've been reading too much science lately

I've experienced that bright white light a few times. Most times when just on the border of sleep, and it's behind my eyelids, and it flashes so brilliant for a moment. I don't actually know what it is but it feels ok.
Once it happened when I was awake. I'd got up to pee about 4am. It was dark outside. I didn't switch on the light because I know my way to the bathroom, I've been there a million times, and the artificial light is a horrid shock to me when I'm sleepy like that... anyway I'd peed and was on my way back to bed, and suddenly the whole room lit up for at least a minute with this tremendous white light. It was not lightning. I waited and watched the sky, but it didn't come again. I have no rational explanation to this day.

hi,
even i have experienced the bright white light, and high contrast blue, black lights. its basically stages of meditation and how well are you connected to your spiritual guides. as we practice more and more we proceed to the next stages. you may also notice your spiritual guide standing around your bed.
the back and blue lights will be all around you giving it a wave like characteristics. and the white light and a loud sound will appear when we are about to go into unconscious state.
I would request everyone who posted hear to share their current experiences so that we may help each other understand the phenomenon.
