In the movie "What the Bleep Do we Know" a scene showed photos of water molecules that had been blessed by a spiritual leader next to photos of water molecules that were not. The non-blessed water molecules looked like boring blobs, whereas the blessed molecules were colourful and shaped like snowflakes. Ones that were cursed were ugly, dirty images. Now,I used to wonder why as kids Mom made us say grace before eating our meals growing up. (That Dad was a Prespyterian minister had a lot to do with it, but...) Anyway, I understood then that it was graditude for our daily nourishment, but now on a deeper - albiet subconscous - level was it to prepare our food with a positive energy, sort of like a spiritual "seasoning"? Getting into the habit of praying before our meals may be a better deal than we first thought. |

According to Dean Radin, this has been reproduced under double-blind conditions, with further testing on the way: Entangled Minds: Effects of distant intention on water crystals |

see below. Don't put your faith in things like this - and its stuff like this that undermines serious believe in the power of the mind. Same goes for pseudo psyhics. I always say this;: my belief in God does not rest on crying saint statues or other phenomona. I do believe miracles are possible and have happened but as with anything that requires faith - it becomes a target for huslters and scammers. I am not saying the water chap is scammer -but i am saying whether or not his 'experiements' are real does not sway me one way or the other in my beleive in visualization and the power of thought. BTW, i think blessing your food before you eat it is a great idea. ___________________ Emoto's water crystal experiments consist of exposing water in glasses to different words, pictures, or music, and then freezing and examining the aesthetics of the resulting crystals with microscopic photography. [3] Even with the best of intentions, cognitive biases can easily lead to the misinterpretation of such data. For example, selection bias or confirmation bias may occur if the person taking the photographs or the person judging the beauty of the photographs knows which water samples have been sent which messages. The photographer or judge’s attitudes towards Emoto’s claims - either sympathetic or skeptical - could distort their choice and ranking of photos. For example, photographers may hunt through the diversity of crystals in each sample to look for those that match their expectations. Over time scientists have developed ways to reduce the risk of such biases occurring. Double blind experiments are a key method. In this case it would mean having the photographer and the judge carry out their work without prior knowledge of which sample had been sent which message. A proper experiment would also require comparing a sample with another sample that has been treated identically in all ways except one. If the samples turn out different, then it may be plausible to attribute the difference in results (such as the formation of more or less aesthetically pleasing water crystals) to the one difference in their treatment (such as praying towards one but not the other). But if there were multiple differences in the ways the samples were treated (such as the rate of cooling or other factors known to affect crystal formation), then it may not be possible to conclude from the experiment whether it was the treatment of interest (prayer in this example) or the uncontrolled experimental conditions that caused the samples to turn out differently. Even sympathetic commentators have criticized Emoto for insufficient experimental controls,[4] and for not sharing enough details of his approach with the scientific community. [5] In addition, Emoto has been criticized for designing his experiments in ways that leave them open to human error influencing his findings. [6] In the day-to-day work of his group, the creativity of the photographers rather than the rigor of the experiment is an explicit policy of Emoto.[7] Emoto freely acknowledges that he is not a scientist,[8] and that photographers are instructed to select the most pleasing photographs.[9] Emoto says that he selects the photos that he wishes for consistency [citation needed]. This is an explicit admission of observer bias. Masaru Emoto - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

You have a point, but then again, (and I haven't read the details of the purported double-blind experiment) if this experiment gets replicated that'll certainly shake things up a little, wouldn't it? And having a lot of people question our understanding of reality isn't a bad thing (even if the charlatans and scammers come out of the woodwork).

I'd remain a skeptic on this subject until a few double blind studies are confirmed by third party. Masaru Emoto: Information from Answers.com Quote:

| Sure it can. Praying to your false Christian God offends the one True god (Quetzalcoatl, of course. Or was it Vishnu? Maybe it was Mithras?) and leads to a most unpleasant afterlife...

When I had a bad habit of drinking energy drinks, I would sometimes have the presence of mind to bless one of them before drinking it, as a way to make the damage less than it would normally be (I was addicted at the time despite knowing the dangers of High Fructose Corn Syrup). When I did, I mentioned every possible healthy alternative effect to those of the drink, and intended all stimulant properties to be free of crash, etc. Well, when I drank it all reverently, this happened. I did not suffer a sugar crash or even a caffeine crash, It tasted better, more natural, and honestly like it had a greater substance to it, I was truly rejuvenated by it, like a potion rather than an indulgence. I was able to finish it without guilt, and not have my usual paranoia after a few hours because of the drink. So in regards to *conclusive proof* of Masaru Emoto's experiments, I think it's not worth trying. It'll never happen that way again, otherwise we'd have figured it out hundreds of years ago and would be further towards divine technology than mundane explanations of divinity. I suggest simply taking it at face value and recognizing that the water is not being affected for its chemical status, but rather for its metaphysical status as the perfect Element of Water, which is universally (practically) considered the most receptive of elements, and the main ingredient of the human body, thus a perfect conduit for intention manifestation within our own bodies. An interesting thing to also recognize: By blessing individual ingredients of a meal, and cooking them with reverence and contingent blessings upon those actions (like steaming something, basting it or sautéing it), you can create the equivalent of a spell in a meal, explaining the idea behind witches' brew. Think further, and you will find greater connections. ~ David |

Blessing your food places good intentions and energy on the food to nourish your body. It can also prepare your body to receive the food wholly. Taking small bites and chewing thoroughly while meditating on the tastes of the food allows it to send all of its energy into your body (some of which you gave it by way of blessing). I tried this with fruits and vegetables, and I am immediately energized and nourished, its really wonderful.

I saw Emoto speak and he was very precise about his experiments but they really cannot be done without bias. The water crystals, until frozen, are constantly under the influence of the thoughts around them. He even clearly stated that he used a young man with a good even disposition because his thoughts could effect changes on the crystals as they froze. As far as the complaint regarding selective bias, his device only allows for one crystal to form at the tip of an extremely fine point under the camera. Jennifer |
