What is the best way to know your spirit guide's name?

Sorry to ask in this part, i thought it might be relevant because three different psychics i went to see in the past year told me three different stories about my spirit guide(s) and the names change every time too. The first time i went to see a psychic, it was my only question! What is my spirit guide's name? Why do you think they get different names each time? Can they actually hear and see my spirit guides or are they simply making it up as they go along? And most important question, how can i find out by myself instead of relying on someone else to find the answer? Please share your experiences or tips.

ah I see you too my good friend, you are just like me : wondering I went to a channeler and she sort of deviated for the subject and told me only who one of them could possibly be and the numbers of them she felt.
During an automatic writing session, I got a name close to Gaton, something similar, can't remember exactly what, but I was telling myself it was bogus and didn't take it into account.
Then the other day while meditating, I thought about asking again and the name came again into my mind, I had totally forgotten about it, so if it pops up twice I guess there must be something to it I'll try and find other ways to have confirmation thank you for asking Weena, it's indeed a very interesting question. Some people might say that it's only a name and a name is something created but I reckon it still helps !

There's a couple of possibilities in this:
1. One or more of the "Psychics" you went to are frauds playing on your emotional need to be connected to something "higher" than yourself. It's not uncommon and lots of people have been sucked into this kind of experience. It's also not a new phenomenon. Charlatanism has been around as long as cogent thought. If this is the case, don't feel bad, you're in good company.

2. We all have multiple Guides and Allies. Each of the Psychics you went to may have tuned into different Guides for different reasons. Depending on why you went to the different Psychics in the first place, what questions you asked them to investigate for you, and the Psychic's own personal filters and disposition, any one of your "comittee" could have stepped up to be heard.

As you have already recognized, the most effective way to communicate with your Guides is directly. What you might not realize, is that your Guides are communicating with you ALL THE TIME. And they have been since you were born (actually before, but that's a whole other post). In fact, the communcation we get from our Guides is so prevelent and pervasive that we don't even normally realize it's communication. We've been "hearing" it for so long that we chalk it up to "imagination" or "self-chatter".

You need to learn to quiet your mind and focus your Intent on 'hearing' them again. There's a lot of different ways to do this; guided meditation, solo meditation, shamanic journeying, self-induced hypnosis, externally induced hypnosis... the list is huge - just try to run a Google search on "Quieting the Mind" and you'll see what I'm talking about.

There is no "right" or "wrong" way to do this. In the end, it's whatever works best for you - whatever is easiest and most effective - is what's right. It takes practice and patience. Some are naturals and make their connection very quickly and easily. Others have to fight and struggle for years. It's a very personal Path.

Thanks to the both of you for replying :-). I do get very very clear messages every once in a while, i never get their name but i know it's them talking as a fully formed sentence comes quickly into my mind about people or situation, and as it is always non-judgemental and loving way to see things i figure out it comes from up there.

They show me other sides (again to people/situations i wonder about) that have to be taken into accounts for example. there have been instances at night too where i actually had to wake up because they were insisting on something :-).

for the guide being there since before birth it reminds me of an interetsing read (i have to aknowledge you Modernthing for that one) where the soul hangs out with the spirit guides a lot more than with the (earthly) parents during the pregnancy. as you say, it's an other subject but i concur.

I will try more often to quiet my mind...i've been trying lots of time but i must be one of those who have forgotten "how to". An old soul with amnesia :-D

Have you read Erin's article on guides' names? Don't remember which one it was, but I found it pretty enlightening.

What would having a "right" name mean to you? In what way do you expect your life would be more wonderful than it is right now if you knew the name(s)?

The three different names i got for the female spirit guide all started and ended with "A", so i guess if (as explained in the article) my spirit guide has no name, i'll just settle on the letter "A".

I do not expect my life to be "more wonderful" by knowing the name, i just wish to have a name to call upon her, just some basic 'human" way of communicating like when i talk to a friend (even if they have a totally different way to do it, an energetic way to do it... I'm still living in a body human/mind).

If you're not getting a clear, "This is my name", it would be fine for you to pick a name, and just use that. The guides don't mind!

The more you practice connecting with your Guides, quieting your mind and separating your energy body from your physical body, the less you will be confined by your percieved limitations.

I think those psychics were probably frauds... did you test them?

I had a lot of experience with fraud psychics recently. I learnt to use my own intuition to test theirs.

The last time I got really angry at the lady because she was chanelling for other people who were less able to see through her than me. I wanted to help the poor seeker myself but the idiot psychic didn't want me to talk the stage.

I've been working on my psychic abilities and they are pretty useful for me, but I still haven't talked to my guides really I'd like to though, I want that confirmation of the spiritual realm. And to feel like I have a bit of support.

The one I saw I felt she was omitting to tell me some very important things about my abilities, this was just a gut feeling. And it turns out to be true.
David Chang (somewhere out there, hi David if you read this and thanks once again) is offering readings and the one he gave me was more accurate than the "sort of" reading she gave me, he confirmed my thoughts. Plus I really had the feeling that woman was putting in a lot of personal "advice" that I surely didn't need. I have the impression it was biasing the message more than anything else.

Perhaps the personal touch was handy for her, to have more blah blah in her channeling, besides the fact of being so vague with the actual info. You're only better served by yourself, methinks, in some situations...
I don't think she's a charlatan, just not very far off in her growth... and she should perhaps exercise at getting more precise stuff before offering "pro" councelling on those matters.

Thank you all for replying to this topic :-). All the replies have something insightful, thank you for that. Mato, i also think later on i might be able to work at a higher level and communicate more intuitively with the other side. For the psychics i saw i don't think they were phony as some of their predictions coincided perfectly when they didn't know me, or each other at all, and a few months apart too. One of them did offer past lives reading and i was very pleased with it. I'm pretty sure she sees those life for real as some details made heaps of sense. She also did past lives for my mother and i was gobsmacked at how we could relate the details to my mum's current life, and shall i precise the psychic lives in Tasmania, and my Mum in Europe, so she couldn't know my mother, she just did a photo reading (they did that via me as my mother speaks french only and i did all the translation of the reading for her).
Maybe a "test" for two of them would be to see what my next ultrasound says about my second child :-D (two predicted a baby sister for my son).

You could try basic automatic writing. Make sure you are in a quiet and peaceful environment. Have a paper and pen, or just open your computer to type. Ask your guide/s the highest and the best with love and light to come through, and that you would like to ask them questions, name etc.

Then, just write or type "Hello, please can you tell me your name"? Then write the first name or initial that comes into your head. Try not to read it as you are writing/typing it. Then you can either finish it and read it. Or just carry on asking your guides any questions you may have, you will find yourself writing an answer back that has come from them.

Thank you Misscpb, i did contact them through automatic writing a couple of times, last time it worked i didn't ask for a name but was given info about my second child, and my lady guide gave me a "fertility" necklace "recipe" if i can call it that way (with crystals) (don't know if it was related but i made the necklace, wore it and got pregnant straight away). Unfortunately, as i wrote today in Erin's blog discussions, i have left a deceased lady swoop in a few times and now i'm not very trusting of using automatic writing to talk to my guides. I think i communicate better and better with them (mentally) even though i haven't settle on the name thing
