Default Help In Remembering My Dreams

I've done a few searches and I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I have a terrible time recalling my dreams! I've tried affirmations before sleep, pencil and paper by the bed. Meditating before sleep, I just can't seem to connect. Any help would go a long way...

You are trying too hard.

What you need to do

1. learn to be aware of your heart-rate its easier to dream when you have a slower more relaxed heart-rate (pranayama helps btw)

2. try to look as lucid dreaming as a second dream.

3. before going to sleep think of something simple (i.e. having a pet dog or cat)
something meaningful and pleasant.

4. your emotional state can affect how you dream (positive is better)

hope this helps

Here's a few ideas I've picked up while reading about dreaming, lucid and otherwise - the moment you wake up, if at all possible, do the following:

Keep your waking situation unchanged - keep your eyes closed and don't move! If an alarm clock is going off, or you have some other disturbance, do what you can to alleviate it and then get right back to bed and close your eyes.

Allow your mind to wander, do not fall into your waking pattern of thought. Keep things as 'hazy' and relaxed as possible.

If, after a few minutes, nothing comes back to you,you can try something I came up with on my own - ask yourself questions about your dream - was I indoors or out? Was it dark or light? Did I have friends or family with me, or strangers, or was I alone? Sometimes these will trigger a dream memory, or at least a sort of 'feeling' that leads to a dream memory.

When I do this in combination with dream journaling, I quickly get to the point where I am remembering a dream every day, often two or three!

I also agree with Shades that you're trying too hard. You really need to take a relaxed and fun attitude with this; just sort of fall in love with the idea of both sleep and dreaming, embrace the whole process as gently as you can, and recall will come.

Why do you want to recall your dreams?

You want messages in your dreams?? your interested in your EGO's interpretation of where you are?? (honestly I find my EGO's interpretation interesting)

One thing I can think of that wouldn't be very fun.. but you could do is purposefully wake yourself up.. every hour or two..

Understand that by my understanding your ENERGY reads "frantic" about it.. like it's that important it's not.. if you setup yourself up in life not to remember there must be a reason.. I would suggest loosening up.. letting go.. take it easy on yourself.. it doesn't help to scream "I can't remember my dreams!" it would help to say "I didn't remember my dreams last night.. but I might remember tonight"

I know our souls perform a multitude of tasks while we sleep. I want to try and be more aware of these. Since we separate from our ego when we sleep, I want to be aware of this change. I don't think I'm not supposed to be remembering, I just think my egotistical self prefers that I don't. A threat maybe? It would be easier just to let go of my ego but I haven't figured that one out yet..........

Thumbs up

i think that the dreams you dont remember arent usually important for us to know...

so dont worry:if something is really important, you will remember it!

last night my bf had a terrible one,he dreamt that two people were eating him up.... i think you wont want to remember those kind o dreams do you?

so relax and Waxy´s advices were really good-try it but not in a stressed way

good luck!

If you were to remember your dreams.. that would be a major spiritual turn on connection.. are you sure you don't want that the end goal for you is to remain in this limiting reality?

Cause if you REMEMBER.. without EGO interpretation.. then you will really start to have access to other things and find this place kind of limiting.. this is my understanding..

If you really want it.. then keep pursuing it.. find yourself a teacher that will help you turn it on.. I know one person who claims to remember their dreams you could ask them.. I'm not sure they'd answer you though

Being able to expand beyond our physical limitations can only help us prepare for our "continuing education". We don't keep doing things over in our existence until we get it "right'. Every incarnation is one step in our expansion as spiritual beings. We have a choice in which life we lead before even entering the womb. As humans, we really haven't quite got it right yet but a few are starting to figure things out. Maybe this great awakening that everyone is talking about is about to unfold? We will take the next step in our evolution and move away from the physical limitations we place upon ourselves now. Hmm, all I wanted was some help remembering my dreams and I jump on my soapbox..... Sorry if I wandered.......
