Is there such thing as a bad spirit guide?

Maybe a spirit guide that's not very good at guiding you? Or what about a spirit guide that would intentionally lead you in the wrong direction?

Sometimes it's hard to understand what a guide is saying, or it doesn't seem to make sense. But guides won't intentionally mislead you in the wrong direction.

I will say, however, that guides aren't always interested in your comfort, just yoru growth and getting you to your desired destination.

if you feel they're taking you in the wrong direction, get clarity on what they're trying to say. soemtimes you have to take two steps back to take one step forward on a new path and taking that step back doesn't feel "right."

Not so pleasant in what ways? Were they simply rude, abrupt or controlling/demanding, or did you actually get the sense that they were deceiving you?

Thomas, i'd just like to add... if you are connecting with your guides, or even just asking for help (in your head or out loud) with no specific direction... this can get things wonky.

we all have a team of guides, and it's important to be specific in our request for connection. there are lots of different energies in the universe, and not all of them care about our highest good. but as long as we are specific in our request for connection, we'll only be interacting with those presences that do have our highest good in mind.

I dreamed that i had a spirit guide that was hindering me from reaching my goals. Like a little gremlin. Deceiving me, yeah.

It was just a dream though. I was probably thinking of spirit guides when i feel asleep. I seriously, i seriously doubt i would have nasty spirit guides .

could it be you were thinking of your guides, and then your non-hindering guides showed you in a dream a little inner gremlin that may block part of your path?

Excellent point, rei! I describe a little about this in one of the Lucid Dreaming threads here. Regardless if dreams are bits of made-up scenes from our minds or if they are much more, they can indicate subconscious issues -- from the trivial to the serious. Question everything and require proof of good intentions from anyone and anything. There are con-artists everywhere! I know this next comment will go against many belief systems, but why assume that someone taking on the guise/role of a spirit guide has your best interests and benefit in mind? Trust should be earned and never given up so easily!

Hi! I'm new here and already chit-chattering too much I think!

I don't know much but many years ago when I didn't know a great deal of things about these subjects I used to have some reeeeeeeeal AWFUL guides! Glad I got rid of THOSE as I moved upwards in understanding!

I guess like most people I thought that ANYONE from other realms must be a great and spiritual guide and know tons and tons of stuff that we didn't know. So I had some guides who were REALLY mean, they were ugly, had nasty twisted up faces, they were always snarling at me and angry at me all the time.

So I guess you could say they were bad guides. Or rather not even guides, just not very enlightened entities passing themselves off as guides.

I think its possible for your fear to make the spirit guide appear negative, or a particular experience leaving you with bad feelings, but the guide itself is an advanced spiritual entity. I don't know if there are negative ones, but I wonder what the gain would be from a spiritual entity acting out negatively. Your question is a good one, but from what I know about spirit guides, which isn't a lot, I would think being negative defeats their purpose.

Nope, my real guides are incredible, positive, very wise people. (Well, *people*, I mean like spirits, I guess they're not really people as they are spirits hehe.) I think maybe there are just tons of nasty ickies out there who like to try and PASS THEMSELVES OFF as or PRETEND to be guides to people who are gullible and don't know very much about the subject. And I guess many people DO mistake these nasties to be real guides. But it is my opinion that there is nothing further from a real true spiritual spirit guide.
