It has been said that one can meet one's guides in a lucid dream. For those of us who are not (yet) adept oneironauts, is it possible for one of our guides to enter a non-lucid dream, and then point out that we are dreaming? Has anyone done this? |

Years ago I had a dream that ended in me dying, being shot by someone hiding around a corner. Next thing I know, I'm back at the start of the dream, doing it again. Not lucid. Got shot again. Did it 10 times by my count. Same outcome everytime. Finally, someone stopped the dream, and this woman came up to me and said, "Okay, I've sent you this dream 10 times now and you're still making the same mistake every time. Figure out what I"m trying to tell you and do something different!" She seemed exasperated. So the dream started again. Now I'm lucid. Instead of walking around that same corner to be shot, I came at the person from behind, broke their neck, and voila. Dream person comes to me and says, "There you go! Now you're getting the hang of it." I woke up after that completely mystified as to what it meant or who that person was. |

You were already an accomplished lucid dreamer at the time, right? Can you always tell the difference between a dream character created by your subconscious and an individual/entity with its own consciousness? Does one need to have a certain level of consciousness within a dream (even if it is below the level of lucidity) in order for a guide to make an appearance, even if it wants to? Do I need to verbally state a specific intention? They already know what I'm thinking, right? And how do I ensure that, in being open to an in-dream appearance from one of "my" guides (i.e. any guide working in cooperation with my higher self), I am not inadvertently extending an invitation to any malevolent entities? | |
